Sorry no other info on JS23R0B252665.
I have the owners name, nothing else. As I don't know if he'd like to read his name here I'll not write it down.

You are correct on the correlation of the VIN to SPD. However the VIN does check out against a Canadian spec HemiCuda that was sold new in Gatineau Quebec. I don't know why it is like that. A theory is that perhaps it was ordered in January when FM3 and FJ6 were announced, a VIN assigned and then the SPD delayed until the colors were actually available at the plant? Maybe someone like Culvers or KissAlien would know as those guys seem to have all the poop on this kind of stuff.

It seems to me that the VIN itself is legit. I have a VIN of another Canadian Hemicuda that is very near being BS23R0B226991, just 5 cars away. Maybe some Canadian Hemis were built as a batch? That car is a plum four speed, no stripes. Was on ebay some years back.

Since we kind of have a black and white theme started, I will continue that with our next participant ...

BS23R0B317914 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made, 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 284 with a 4-speed. It is finished in TX9 Black-Velvet with V6X black "Hockey Stick" stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior. I would like to give a shout out to our very own Murray, aka "Blown Motor" for viewing this car in person at Mecum's Kissimmee auction and spying me the VIN number for it.

Adding to it's stealthy all black exterior is a shiny black Shaker (other than the standard Argent Silver). Under that cool black Shaker sits a Ray Barton built monster that makes this HemiCuda live up to it's menacing all black appearance.

Void of almost all shiny trim and extraneous options, this HemiCuda is very understated, yet very menacing looking all in black. In fact the entire car is pretty basic, yet very purpose built, with the Hemi, 4-speed, and A33 Track Pack 3:54 geared Dana Axle Package, and "ghost" V6X Hemi "Hockey Stick" stripes as it's only options.
Cheers!

Well continuing with the black and white theme, we have another car from the Mecum Kissimmee auction. Like with our previous entry, 317914, our friend Murray, aka "Blown Motor" helped with positively ID'ing the VIN on this one too. Thanks Murray!

BS23R0B145107 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made, 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 368 with an automatic. It is finished in EW1 Alpine-White with V6X black "Hockey Stick" stripes and a H4X9 black vinyl bench seat interior.

Another bench seat column-shift automatic HemiCuda! It amazes me just how many of these cars rolled off the assembly line in this configuration. Backing up that column-shift automatic is the A32 Super Performance 4:10 geared Dana Axle Package to give this bench seat cruiser plenty of get-up-and-GO!

I love the "Hockey Stick" stripe and this is a great photo of one.
Cheers!

We started off the new year with a great run of some awesome cars. Now we are going to change direction for a moment and dig deep into the archives.

However, before I do, I want to pause to give our friend Murray, aka "Blown Motor" some recognition for scouting out some VINs for me while he was at the Mecum Kissimmee auction. Give it up for Murray!  :clapping: :woo:

With that I just want to put it out there again, that this is an "open" thread. Any and all contributions are always welcomed. Know of a Hemi E-body that hasn't been presented here yet - post it up! If you have a VIN even better so I can cross-check it against what I have to see if it's new (to me) or something I already have. I could always use some VIN "scouts" (like Murray) at the big auctions too so I can correlate and cross-check the auction ads to what I have in my little database.  :chatting:

Anyway, back to the archives. Had to dig deep and go all the way back to 2004 to find this one on Moparts. It's a post from "Dan" looking for the original engine and transmission for BS23R0B159424 a 1970 Tor-Red HemiCuda. The thing I like about Dan's post is that he lists the last registered owner of this HemiCuda as a Mr "Surf Savage". "Surf Savage?" ... how cool of a name is that?! Sounds like the name of someone whom you might meet at Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu or something and not the name of a guy from Sellinsgrove PA! Anyone know of this car? Anyone know of Mr "Surf Savage?" PM me or post it up!

P.S.  Found this old image from Pipeline ... I think the arrow may be pointing to "Surf Savage!"

Cheers!

Haven't posted here for quite a time...
I have a picture of JS23R0B252665 from page 7 on my PC. Can't remember where I found it. Dates from 2004.

Cool Car! I seen one nearly identical to this at Russo and Steel in Scottsdale last weekend but 1971. Black on Black 4spd Hemi Challenger survivor.  :2thumbs:

Hey 1BF, thanks for posting those pics of JS23R1B242313 up! Appreciate your input on this thread!

With 1BF's lead-in, we'll make JS23R1B242313 the next Hemi E-body of the Day (or Week)  :clapping:

JS23R1B242313 is 1 of only 75 1971 Hemi Challenger R/T's ever made. 1 of only 70 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 58 with a 4-speed. It is finished in TX9 Black with a H6X9 black interior.

The original owner owned and operated a Speed-Shop in Joplin MO and parked this car prominently in front of the shop as an advertisement of sorts - what better car for that purpose than a Hemi Challenger RT! From this angle the Challenger looks very unassuming - could be just another car on the road - a real street "sleeper". The original owner must of wanted the car to have a low profile so that he could blend in and sneak up on his prey - or avoid attention from law enforcement!

This car is advertised as being an original "survivor". Remarkably it still retains it's original factory TX9 Black finish, numbers matching driveline and interior to include the seats, door panels, headliner and even the carpet! From the appearance of the carpet in this pic, I would say that it must be true, as it looks a little worn, but still very serviceable. The astonishing thing is that this is not a car that sat in a climate controlled display for most of it's life - with 64,000 miles on the odometer this Hemi Challenger RT was driven and driven quite a lot!

The Fender Tag shows that this Hemi Challenger RT is equipped with the A34 Super Track Pack 4:10 geared Dana axle package, B51 Power Disc Brakes, G11 Tinted Glass and G31/G33 Dual Chrome Sport Mirrors among other things. It is nicely equipped but it is also void of any attention getting items such as High-Impact paint, RT stripes (note the V68 stripe-delete code), spoilers, or a Shaker hood. Like I said earlier, this Hemi Challenger RT was built to be a "street sleeper" and I'm sure it fed quite regularly on many unsuspecting opponents! :burnout:
Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the picture posts there JS23U! That is almost like a twin to the aforementioned JS23R1B242313. It looks as if the only difference between the two are the Rallye Wheels and the red pinstripes. Wonder if those red pinstripes are V7R factory pinstripes (or were they only available in 1970?)? Is that the little ebay photo icon in the lower right hand corner of those pics? Do you have any additional info on this dark beauty? Tag info, numbers matching, miles, etc.?Thanks again for posting those up! :clapping: :woo:

Yes, looks like ebay. I have saved these pics in 2008 and 2013. So it was for sale at these times. I didn't write down any additional info except that it was told to be a survivor. Has Illinois plate on the 2013 photo.
Here is the tag:

As you can see it is a V68 / stripe delete. As far as I know no V7_ pinstripes were available on R/Ts. Also, this car has wheel trim moldings, which shouldn't be on a Hemi e-body after about January 1970. Nevertheless, a gorgeous car!  :ylsuper:

Sure!
Stay with "one a day"?  ;)

Ok, here's another JS23R1 in TX9. I personally saw that car in 1999 when we visited R&R salvage yard in southern Missouri. Ron Slobe had died some years before and this is one of the cars that still were at his home back then. I didn't write down a VIN or fender tag info, wasn't smart enough back then... :banghead:

I remember that some things were added but I can't remember what exactly. For sure the stripes had been added, maybe even the vinyl top. I would really like to hear what became of the car. And of course get VIN and tag info  :naughty:

One a day ... one every couple of days ... one a week? It's all good as long as we keep posting and don't let the thread become stagnant.

Wow! I don't know who Ron Slobe was and I can't say that I have ever seen this Challenger of his before either. I like the V6V orange side stripes ... even if they are not original to the car. I'll tell you, it looks really authentic to my amateur eye ... even has the appropriate amount of "dust" from being stashed away for years as these cars often were. So, do you believe it to be "the real deal"? I mean do you remember getting "eyes on" the R-code? Maybe some other C-C member knows of this car and can chime in? Anyone?

Edit: Don't I feel silly for not knowing who Ron Slobe was. I just "Googled" him and discovered that his R&R Salvage was one of the largest, if not thee largest, Mopar salvage yards in the country. That would have been something to have cruised that yard back in it's heyday ...
