It was a year ago this week that a very unique and highly prized Hemi-car mysteriously disappeared. A year ago Steve Juliano's one of a kind Mod-Top '70 HemiCuda was taken from his garage in New York. A year later the mystery is unresolved as the Mod-Top has apparently vanished into the night like a ghost never to be seen again.

Hope Steve has put a bigger lock on his garage ... as he has more unique cars that need to be protected from a similar fate as the Mod-Top ... like this one ...

This 1970 Hemi Challenger RT convertible, more commonly known as The Yellow Jacket and later as The Diamante should be no stranger to anyone as it is very unique and stands out in any crowd. JS27R0B100022 was the first of what would be only 12 Hemi Challenger R/T convertibles ever made. Originally the car was a loaded triple-black (TX9 Black with a black leather interior and a black top) 4-speed car and reportedly the only one of the 12 to come from the factory with a Shaker hood. It never made it to a dealership. When it rolled off the assembly line, Chrysler retained it and sent it off to be transformed into a factory concept car which at first was The Yellow-Jacket which is shown here.

The original Yellow Jacket did not create enough consumer buzz for Chrysler on the 1969 show car circuit - apparently the models dressed in bumble-bee outfits garnered more attention than the car did! So in 1970 Chrysler decided to do a more extensive remodeling of the Yellow-Jacket and the end result was the Diamante show car as shown here.

The original Pearl White Diamante's paint was damaged in transit to a car show and the car was subsequently repainted in the Candy Tangerine shown here. The Diamante continued to tour the show car circuit through 1970 and into 1971 before it was retired. Note how the tail lights look very similar to those that would be on the '72-'74 Challengers. Chrysler placed the car into storage for several years before it was finally auctioned off in 1978. The car eventually found its way into the hands of noted Mopar restoration specialist and collector Steve Juliano who still owns it to this day. Chrysler Performance West's "Spring-Fling" is happening this weekend. Since MATS is no longer an all Mopar show, Spring-Fling can be said to now be the preeminent Mopar show on the west coast. As a tribute to Spring-Fling, today's featured triple-blue Hemi Challenger RT is a long time attendee of the event.

JS23R0B339298 is 1 of only 307 1970 Hemi Challenger RT's ever made, 1 of 287 made for the U.S. and of those 1 of 137 with a 4-speed. It is finished in EB5 Bright-Blue with distinctive V6B blue longitudinal stripes with a H6B5 blue vinyl interior. Love those blue stripes - you just don't see too many of them.

This all blue Hemi Challenger RT is equipped with the A01 Light Group Package, A33 Track Pack 3:54 geared Dana Axle Package, B51 Power Disc Brakes, C16 Center Console, G33 chrome LH Sport Mirror and the thumping 2w R11 Music Master AM Radio among other things.

Love that license plate - "JS23R0B"! Today we have a bruiser turned beauty queen. This Deep-Burnt-Orange heavy-hitter was a dedicated drag strip fighter before hanging up it's gloves and slipping into retirement. After years of just hanging around the storage shed, it was coaxed out of retirement by the promise of a makeover and a comeback ... but this time as a beauty queen instead of a drag strip terror.

BS23R0B157065 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made. 1 of only 652 made for the U.S. market, and of those 1 of 284 with a 4 speed. It is finished in FK5 Deep-Burnt-Orange with V6X black "Hockey Stick" stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior.

From the fender tag we can see that this HemiCuda came equipped with the A34 Super Track Pack 4:10 geared Dana Axle Package, A62 Rallye Gauge Package, B51 Power Disc Brakes and a C16 Center Console among other things. Not a lot of frills here, but everything you would need for a bad-ass race car which this car was!

Look how happy it now looks (almost looks like it is smiling doesn't it?)! This former race car was restored back to like-new condition and was for sale at Happy Days Dream Cars in MO in 2014

Found this interesting looking Vitamin-C HemiCuda on facebook.

From the license plate I assume it's outside of North America somewhere - but I don't recognize the plate format so I don't know. If I were to guess, I would say Sweden because of the surprising number of Mopars that have migrated there from North America.

And one more pic. Anyone recognize the car or where that plate is from??

I would guess that it is very old Norwegian plate, even from beginning of 70�s?

There are quite some hemi e-bodies in Northern Europe, most of them in Sweden of course...
In Finland we have 2 1970 hemicuda�s, and 1 1970 Challenger. At least to my knowledge.

The VIN of the orange Cuda is BS23R0B291159. I heard it has original paint (with added custom paint job, of course).

Thanks for the tip on the plate Jousi. Great looking car by the way. I always liked the way the Hockey Stick stripe looked in red on a black car. IMO, Ma Mopar should have made it available in that color (red) and white.

Jousi, I invite you to tell us more about your car as we all would love to hear about it, and of course, see more pictures of it! However, if you could, wait until Wednesday, April 26th, (4-26) so your car can be our International Hemi Day (4-26) R-code E-body of the day!

Well, here are couple pictures and short story: I bought it from east coast couple years ago, and shipped it to Finland. It was and still are just a driver, I have been doing some detailing and overhauling/repairing stuff, like suspension,electrics etc. aiming to have a nice and reliable ride... It have just one 20 years old overpaint, and door jambs still have original paint. Mostly original sheet metal, exept trunk floor. Original 450 wheels, and still holds factory exhaust and many other parts. Quite in a buildsheet condition, just that red hockey stripe, rim blow, and sport mirror are added. It has now 90s MP block, but I got a 68-block under work.

Whew! Went on a short hiatus to recover from all of the excitement of international Hemi Day (4/26)!

Our next entry needs little introduction as it has probably been seen by just about anyone who calls themselves an enthusiast.

Now who can say that they have never seen this BF Goodrich ad before? Some of you probably had a poster, or a full size banner, of it hanging in your garage. But did you know that the car in the ad is not some clone, but is in fact a "real-deal" Hemi Cuda? Yes it is! It's not some Bruce Banner want-to-be, but it is none other than The Incredible Hulk hisself!

This is none other than BS23R0B146391, which is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made and 1 of only 44 made for the Canadian market. It is factory finished in FJ5 Limelight (a very Hulk-like shade of green!) with V6X black Hockey Stick stripes and a H6X9 black vinyl interior.

This Limelight green beast is a former SS/D Super-Stock drag car and from the fender tag we can see that it was made to "Hulk smash!" the competition with it's D21 4-speed transmission and A34 Super-Track-Pack Dana axle package.

This green monster is now owned by Marty Ahlgrim. Marty bought the car when it was still in it's full race configuration and restored it back into a street legal ride. One of the few things that it still retains from it's racing days is the rear wheel tubs into which Marty stuffed some huge Mickey Thompson Sportman Pro tires mounted on Weld Pro Star wheels (I love the look of those "steam-rollers" on this car!)

How Marty's car came to be on that famous BF Goodrich poster was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. In the early 1990's BF Goodrich was working on a new ad campaign and they contacted Roland Osborne (RIP 4/18/2017) of NHOA, CPPA and Chrysler Power magazine fame for help with finding the "right" Mopar for them. Roland pointed them in the direction of his good friend Marty, and after one look at Marty's green beast the ad exec's at BF Goodrich knew they had found what they were looking for.

BS23R0B283660 is 1 of only 704 1970 HemiCuda''s ever made and 1 of only 45 made for the Canadian market. It is the first of only two HemiCudas finished in FM3 Moulin-Rouge (the other being BS23R0B292542). It is completed with V6X black Hockey Stick stripes, a V1X black vinyl top and a H6X9 black vinyl interior.

The "Y07" build-to spec code and the "C" as the first character of the VON show that this HemiCuda was built to Canadian specifications. The fender tag also shows us that this powerful pink HemiCuda was equipped with the A01 Light Group Package, A04 Basic Group Package, A62 Rallye Gauge Package, B51 Power Disc Brakes, C16 Center Console, G36 painted LH Sport Mirror, and the AM/8-Track Radio among other things.

Beautiful interior almost looks brand new! With the automatic, power steering, power brakes and the standard 3:23 geared rear axle, this pink HemiCuda is set to be a real power cruiser.

Cool pic showing the only two FM3 Moulin Rouge HemiCudas together. BS23R0B283660 on the left is (was?) owned by Greg and Allison Joseph while BS23R0B292542 on the right is owned by Wade and Aster Ogle. Kind of interesting in that they are similar by being the only two HemiCudas to have been finished in FM3 Moulin Rouge, yet they are almost opposite in what complements that High-Impact pink paint. BS23R0B283660 on the left is a Canadian spec car that has it's bright pink livery offset by a black vinyl top, black Hockey Stick stripes, a black vinyl interior and is an automatic. BS23R0B292542 on the right is a U.S. spec car that has it's bright pink livery complemented by a white vinyl top, a white leather interior and is a 4-speed.
