Sunroof

I have 72 Dodge Challenger with a factory electric sunroof
I have everything hooked up electrically what I am noticing is there is only power to the roof when the key is in the auxiliary position.does anybody know if this is right ? And the question is does the roof only have power in the 
auxiliary postion on the key only so no power to the roof when driving ?

that would make sense. anlauto is working on two sunroof cars, maybe he will chime in with the answer.

I'm not there yet, but it does some how make sense....Both cars I started with were not running when I started

                 Not sure, but I would think it would be powered up all the time, key or no key. I think most all convertibles are wired that way.

Shouldn't the sunroof work with the car in RUN position as well.

Something doesn't sound right with the power circuit.

Would you happen to have pictures on the wire connections at the switch and motor?

Do you have a picture and location of the actual sunroof switch, including how the wiring connects.  The FSM shows one wire going up top to a switch is my guess.

Yes just one wire going to the switch the switch gets it power from the fuse panel then threw the relay so before I installed the relay I had power to the roof all the time since the relay installed power only on  the auxiliary postion on the key is the only way to get power to the switch

The Technical Service Bulletin "with the  ignition on" It doesn't clarify what position the key has to be in other then "on". I read that as the run position :dunno:

So here what's going on with the sunroof I had it hooked up direct to 12 Volts from the fuse panel had power all the time to the sunroof could open and close while driving  . I installed the factory relay to the sunroof and hooked it up with the schematic that shows how to hookup the wires .so now that I have done that the only way I get power to the sunroof is with the key in auxiliary postion and you have to stop the car and put key in the auxiliary position . I am trying to find out if this is how it is suppose to work . Kinda a pain to have to stop the car all the time to open and close the roof

I have zero experience with a sun roof Challenger but I have to believe the sun roof would have to work when the car was driving down the road. Stopping the car to switch the key so the sun roof would work can't be correct.
