New cars outnumbering old ones at shows now?

Dissapionted this weekend after going to a local swap meet Saturday and show today. The swap meet had very little for musclecar parts, a lot of crap, lawn mowers and other junk, only saw one bumper for a `72 Satellite. Today went to a decent size show in Maine but wasn`t a great turnout. Weather was probably a factor as it called for a few showers but really wasn`t bad. Mopar section had maybe 8-10 newer Challengers and 7 or 8 older cars where in years past it was 20-30 old Mopars and 5-10 new ones. Even magazines, FB and websites seem to leaning more to newer cars and less older ones. I guess times are changing?

                   Yea, well, kinda sad. Us old geezers are dyin off. Its like the cars from the 40's and 50's, like the Baby Birds, are really down in value. It's the electronic age, not to long carburetors will be gone.  Really glad I won't be around in 20 or so years to witness how stupid it all gets.

Nothing wrong with new cars, there were 3 Hellcats there but showroom stock. The one new Challenger that was modified was typical of new cars at shows  -overdone with lot`s of  decals, lights, stickers and other bought add on trinkets.

I find it really annoying when you go to a "classic car show" and there is a bunch of newer Mustangs there. You can buy them on every used car lot in the country. Nothing "classic" about that.

I really don`t mind some new cars but at least customize them don`t leave them stock and have some creativity don`t just buy a bunch of stuff and slap it on. I do know most decent project cars have pretty much dried up here in the northeast and so have parts. Demand also seems to be down as I`ve advertised a solid project car and some parts on CL and haven`t had much response.

Also a brand new Mustang that was torn apart and another $40,000 spent on it. It was making 800HP. I had no problem with either of those at a show. It's the off the assembly line cars that bother me.

  around here about a dozen or so late model Mustangs show up and in my opinion , " take up space"  It's like oh gee great yet another Mustang....

I don't go to car shows to see the same cars I can see in a dealer showroom.

We will be catching part of the Power Tour this year, unfortunately I expect to see a bunch of new cars out there. The whole idea sure loses it's allure when the car is still under warranty..

I don't mind them when it is a brand specific show like the one I went to today.  An all Mopar show, It was a 50/50 mix of old and new. Most of the newer cars were modified in some way and some of the craftsmanship was outstanding.  But when the show is advertised as a "classic car show" there should only be classic cars there.

This reminds me of the motorcycle shows I used to go to, all the Harley riders would show up with their new bikes with every Harley  accessory they could bolt on and call their bikes a custom. It's worse than all the mustangs at the shows. I went to a show yesterday late and got stuck in the middle of 5 mustangs and a newer Challenger that was all pimped out with a flip flop paintjob and conestoga wheels I swear they were 30 inch with an inch of sidewall.

Last year there was MAYBE one Hellcat at a show and it was getting a lot of attention, but this year there are always 3-4 and everyone is walking by with not even a second look.  What they are looking at is the true classic cars, which shows you that our cars are still what people come to a show to see.  I am fine with the "new generation" of muscle cars because it keeps our hobby an interests alive.  The '60-'70's cars are still cool, and now its moving toward the late '70's (like the Bandit Trans Am) and less of the '40-'50's since that generation is dying off.  Someday our cars will not be as popular, but I hope today's muscle cars will be to keep this hobby alive.
