New cars outnumbering old ones at shows now?

[74 challenge]

It's the evolution of cars in the 70's my dad went to car shows and looked at pre WW2 cars now it's filled with cars he would consider junk himself.

However I am happy to see new cars especially when younger people are driving them. They are interested in the car hobby, are keeping it going and will find their own cars. Eventually what's happening to the older car guys today will happen to them.

Bring them out especially since most car shows support  a charity. They want to pay 2 bucks to the girl guides to show off a car that to them is special? sure thing bud, bring it out new, old, rusty, mint, as long as your proud of it. Not everything needs to be a 1970 hemi cuda one of one.

I fine with the newer cars there but don't bring a stock new car and expect me to pay attention to it. There were 3 Hellcats at the show yesterday but I never looked at them. There is huge variety of cars at the show from VW to lowriders to you name it but I'm still only going to look at what interests me. I'm also glad to see kids into cars it will keep our hobby strong.

In Maryland most car shows are listed custom cars 78 and older. classic hotrod bikes.  Even our Satuday night Lost in the 50's restrict cars to 78.

What pisses me off is the owners of 2008 and newer need to take up two spaces so they can open there doors to show off the black interior.  AZZholes.

I bought a used 2012 3 years ago, joined a modern club, met alot of very cool people, and then I get the old one out, go to the old club meets, still have fun, and I will bring the old one to a modern meet , still have tons of run,or vise versa , my motto if ya cant beat em , join em, the new ones used dont cost that much, and are great for a daily ,......

I would also like to have a newer Challenger for a driver but I can't afford both right now. I still drive my 74 as much as possible anyway which is what I bought it for.

I always get a kick out of the people that bring their brand new Vettes and act like no one has ever seen one before.  Complete with spec boards, mirrors and "do not touch" signs everywhere.

Well I`ll be driving down and "showing" my `06 V6 Charger but only because my `cuda isn`t up to an 8 hour trip right now so I won`t mind yours.    It has an air intake and dual exhaust that was on it when I bought it but otherwise it`s just a plain old daily driver and I don`t consider it a show car. I don`t really have a  problem with new cars at shows it`s just that I prefer to see the old ones and it seems that there are less of them and more new ones that have been "customized" by shopping at Autozone and Walmart. If I could afford it I`d be driving a nice new Challenger but it would never replace my `cuda.

I had a 66 Barracuda.  At car shows/Cruise Ins "lots of people" stopped. looked. commented.  I sold it and bought a newer Challenger R/T.  It had custom paint and a "Shaker" hood.  People would walk right past it and go look at he "Herbie Volkswagen."  I sold the Challenger and bought my (current) 73 'Cuda.  At shows/Cruise Ins now I barely have time to discuss the 'Cuda and the Mopar history with all of the people who stop by.

Last weekend I went to a Cruise In and while we were walking around we came upon a group of new Mustangs.  My Buddy and I looked at each other, shook our heads and then I said:  "Looks like we are at the NEW CAR lot."

Not because they were Mustangs/Fords, but because we both knew we could go to the local dealers and look at "new cars."

I do enjoy though when newer special edition cars show up. IE like the Hellcat, a Boss 302, a GT 350, or a z28. For the simple fact that they are not something you see everyday and not something that every car lot would have.

My buddies and I would walk by new cars and comment " OH BOY LOOK AT MY MONEY" We drove cars we built, they drove the ones they bought!!!

I've owned both old and new Challengers , the new one just wasn't me and I got rid of it. My current "survivor" 70 Challenger is an absolute blast to drive.

everyone and his grandma in their new car try to race you. Fortunately a few weeks ago is was about dead even when a Cadillac CTS-V
pulled long side, which I think had the supercharged Vette engine in it.  Had we been side by side at the light, then I think I would have taken him.

We have been competing and losing against convenience, reliability, and safety for a long time. But nowadays we are also fast losing on the performance end of it. What good is it to be driving a "muscle car" if it is slower than the average new family sedan? Obviously we still have the unique and wow factor on our side. But sometime that is not enough when you are lined up somewhere. (Safe of course. Lol)
Absolute reason for my twin turbo conversion. Not that I will be going to hunt and prove anything. But I could...

You are NEVER going to have the "Fastest Car" unless your funds are unlimited and you can DRIVE IT.

Face it our old cars are "Cooler" than ANY new car, Hands Down. Park your old Challenger nest to a field full of new ones and see which one draws the crowd.

Lets put our shoe on the the other foot.
If you had money in 1970's and you were old enough to purchase a new 1970 thru 74  Cuda- Challenger your choice options HEMI, 440 6, etc, you would be
a new generation of muscle car enthusiasts.

The now generation has the money and want the New Challenger, Mustang, Camaro.
 They see our muscle cars but want the newer looks.   more reliable, great sound systems, Siris, GPS,  safer, and the new generation of muscle car enthusiast.
Who knows where the next generation of electric cars enthusiast will be,
Will there be a Mustang or Challenger or Camaro, Vette, in electric.  0 to 100 in 2 seconds..........instant torque.
