1970 AAR Cuda rear lower quarter tab ?

I am restoring a 1970 AAR Cuda and there is a small tab extending off lower rear quarter behind rear tire.
Is this small tab left alone or is it meant to be bent up and wrap over bottom of trunk drop?

There is no rules on that tab, left alone, bent up. bent over.....originals have been found all sorts of different ways

Tab is small 1 inch long and wide and is actually part of trunk drop.
I have also seen them both ways bent around quarter skin and other cars not bent up. .
Seems as if purpose was to fold over and hold lower qtr and trunk drop together during spot welding procedure?
Anyone else?

One of mine on my AAR is straight out and the other side is bent sligtly downward

Is this the tab you are referring to?
They are horizontal on my 74.
