1968 Barracuda Temperature Gauge Issue

I recently purchased a '68 Barracuda and am trying to address a few issues with the car. One is the temperature gauge does not register. The previous owner states he bench tested the gauge  before installing and it was functional but he could never get it to work in the car (same issue with the gas gauge which will be another thread if I can't fix it once I get a chance to look at it).
With the temperature gauge I have continuity in the circuit (violet wire) from the sending unit to the plug at the firewall, continuity across the plug, and continuity from the inside plug to the dash connection. I also have continuity from the inside plug to the back of the temp gauge (Which I'm not sure is right). I also checked the resistance at the sending unit and had 193.5 ohms with it cold and 22.8 ohms with the engine at 160F (checked with an infrared gun). Is there a way to check the gauge without pulling the dash (if not, does anyone have a good set of instructions)? Could it be an issue with the circuit  "board"

2 things come to mind
 bad regulator but if one of the 3 ,oil , temp & gas  ,gauges is working that is not it .
 The board is bad , this is not uncommon you should have a pulsing voltage into the gauge fro the reg & it seems you have tested the rest of the circuit out to the sender so you may be missing power through the board .

The oil pressure gauge works. I should have mentioned that I have power at the dash connection K (black wire) which according to the schematic is power feed for the gas and temp gauges. How difficult is is to remove the dash? I am leaning towards the circuit board being bad. I'm assuming the dash will need to come out to get at that?

not too bad usually , drop the column down , undo the face plate screws & the dash should lift out the front enough to work on the wiring
