billboard vinyl "decal" 71 cuda, prep?...
« on: May 23, 2016 - 01:33:22 PM »
hello all,

so I am planning to final buff our latest car with our normal procedure using 3m perfect -it cut, buff and polish system...
my question is: (as we have never done a billboard vinyl decal on a 71 cuda)

? should we buff and polish this area (that is to receive this vinyl billboard) "same as the rest",
or does this risk some kind of adhesion or surface problem when applying the billboard?

thanks

I am by no means an expert, so take this for what it is worth. I would because any imperfections underneath will ultimately show through. Also the adhesive is on the vinyl, and it will stick to anything.   :2cents:

:iagree:    The only thing I would add to that is clean it real good with grease and wax remover just before applying the decal.

I agree with JS^... recall they added these at the factory and NONE of those cars had wax or grease on the paint after paint to my knowledge.

I was implying in the paint or clearcoat.   when he said final buff i assumed the car has a fresh paint job.
