what color/sheen paint is correct for the dash

what sheen paint should be used for the dash components (metal parts) like glove box door etc.

black,
but what sheen, completely flat, semi flat, gloss ?
(want closest to original)
smooth, textured?

Originally, it was a "suede" paint that had a very slight texture to it.  That paint is still available but it's pretty expensive.  If you are on a budget, you can use SEM Trim Black.  On your last coat, lightly spray the paint from a farther distance and you can get a very slight texture in the finish. :2cents:

I did this "slight texture trick" on other parts but just was trying to
determine if the color sheen was to be flat or semi gloss,
sounds like a semi might be the way to go? would think that's close to "suede"

What ever label you want to put on SEM Trim Black.  I consider it to be semi-gloss.  Definitely not flat.

    :iagree: they also make A black etch primer, I use it for any bare metal if I brake through.

To get the proper texture I first paint the metal parts with a Rustoleum dark pewter textured paint. This will give you the proper texture. Once its dry do not sand it but top coat it with an enamel semi gloss black. By just painting with semi gloss paint you will not have that OEM suede looking finish.

bought gloss black
flattener
and texture additive

Kept spraying on a thick paper till I liked it.
