Exhaust installation

So I'm working on my dads 1972 cuda 340 exhaust. We cut the old rusted mufflers with over the axle pipes off. How do I install the new ones? Car is jacked up and on stands. Do I need to take it off the stands and jack it up on frame??? Not enough clearance to get the over the axle pipes actually over the axle. Any advice would be appreciated....thanks

I jacked my car up by frame rails so the rear diff was hanging then it was easy to get over the top.

Ok thanks...I been trying it while jacked up on axle and there is not enough clearance. Makes since when I take a step back. At work now but first thing in the morning I'll try that. Thank you

So now the issue is that my rear tips are all jacked up in regards to where they should be 🙃
