Best Body Filler to use

Can someone tell me the about body fillers, some shops I've ask have recommended Evercoat Rage Ultra and others said to use 3M Platinum Plus Body Filler, they are about the same price, which would be the best to use on our Challenger?

I have been wondering myself.

Have never seen these two at local stores...though I have seen 3M's "Bondo" at Pep Boys.....Professional Gold I think it is.....thoughts on that one?

Want to get started myself this weekend on filler-ing my hood.....and I dont see the Evercoat or Rage products available anywhere but online....

This guy bought A can of  Bondo brand filler from A parts r us type parts store. brought it to my shop and said hear use this on my car, (I told him he was paying for his own supply's) that stuff plugged the sand paper so bad it wasn't even funny.  Evercoat products should be available at A NAPA store, or any parts store that mixes and sells paint. This was going back awhile

Do you know if they sell it in quarts?  From what I can tell online they stopped selling quarts.... buying a gallon at 75 smacked when I won't use even a quart probably sort of sucks eggs....lol

I stopped at a Napa on the way home...lo and behold they have it......it's not a gallon...it's .8 gallon......and it's $80 plus 7% tax......so like 86 smackers.....

If I wasn't just doing a hood I would get it since everything points to this stuff being great......but damn.....spend more money on the filler than the color coat....lol

And I will not use most of it.....

I can see it online. for like 50 to 60 plus shipping....

I like the Evercoat products.  I didn't like the 3M plt plus.  3m platnum was better in my opinion.  I bought mine on amazon.

Evercoat series are top rated everywhere I have seen and I plan to use their stuff.

If you're only blocking out some small distortions in your hood, I wouldn't use a bondo type filler at all. Use one of the newer polyester 2 part putties, out there. They usually come in a quart to pint size and give a much better sand out. Have a board file with some 120 to start and you could finish with 180 or 240 if you really like sanding. The other advantage is that you aren't putting deep sand scratches in it and there's less chance of sinking if the primer lets you down a wee bit. High build primer would be next and use a guide coat when you knock that down to make sure you got all the wiggles you were after. Have fun and don't do it in the sun.

Hey jimynick....do you have specific ones in mind that you have used?

There are some low spots on the hood, that's all.....one depression that isn't quite a dent...more like a dip, if that makes sense? Maybe 6 inches spanning it.....when you look over the hood at an extreme angle you can see it.....and a few small ripples etc.......planning on epoxying and then urethane filler primering it...maybe that would be enough...the putty you are talking about?

By the way...hey theblur...not trying to 'jack your thread......!

+1 for metal glaze. Real smooth and easy to sand.

Thanks to all for the advice, I'm picking up a Gal. Evercoat Rage Ultra for 49.00 to start with, Also a shop suggested using Polyester super high build primer instead of a 2K primer, can this Polyester primer be applied to bare metal or do I need to apply epoxy first? Or should I stay with a 2K primer?
