79 maybe but not an 1989. virtually no parts available if needed. anything the car would need would be NOS or used.

They are decent cars. Certainly lack the collectibility of an E body, but can still be built to run. IMO, a $3k slant six car had better be immaculate and run like a watch, but these are going up in prices and I'm a cheapskate. They used to be $500-1000 cars in running condition. Limited edition versions like Super Coupe or Kit Cars can now sell for upwards of $15k. Decent versions of Road Runners or R/Ts can be $8-10k.

Are you looking at it for a driver or future mods? Small blocks bolt in easy, but big blocks can be shoehorned in with minimal effort. 8.75 rears can be installed for some gear strength. By 1980, most of the weak points in these had been addressed by the factory and they were decent cars. However, the bent torsion bars are a bit weird. Firm Feel does sell bigger sizes for better handling, but they do not have lighter weight versions for drag racing. Iso-clamp rear springs are a pain and all the rubber isolated mounts should be eliminated, IMO.

These cars rotted out horribly, we crushed several. No parts availability in my area st least. Cant say I've seen any on my Nevada/arizona excursions either..,,

Not the same car but similar.

I just sold a 1981 Chrysler Lebaron for 1850.00.  Original everything.   Running slant six.  Red on red with a white half top.  No rust.  107th in production for the year.  Has an 80 motor.
Trying to help with a price comparison.  I'll try to find a picture.

The LeBaron was a "higher" end car.... at least that's the way they had back then.  ::)

There is not much love out there for the Mopar F-Body.  I have a '78 Volare Street Kit Car, and if it wasn't for Firm Feel Inc, I'd be SOL on lots of stuff.  It seems a bit high at $3K for a /6.  Some like the square nose, others prefer earlier years.

I had a 79 Volare Duster back in the day. I just remember rust in the rocker panels and rear quarter panels was common. The car was groovy though... :ylsuper:

We bought it!  Couldn't talk the guy down much.....got it for 3k.

Frankly though I feel good about it.   Original metal everywhere, no rot at all....couple minor rust spots...very veryinor.....one small piece of rot in the trunk center pan, an out 3 inches long....everything else like new....outer trunk metal like new.....Interior like new though cracked dash pad and some marks on the headliner, needs package tray recovered, but seats are like new...door panels like new....carpet damn nice except for a small tear on passenger side that allowed us to see the floor pan....nice.  frame and floors all look awesome....engine is unmolested and very original looking.  Paint is a little tired , right side was recleared at some point, some dings and scratches and a dime sized dent or three here and there, chrome damn near perfect..   the car was taken care of.  Seller threw in side louvers and a rear wing.....car has air shocks and some monster tires on the back which we may change due to some rubbing issues if loaded down.  Runs sooooo th and no smoke at all. I don't who is more excited, me or the kid.  Lol
