Nice score, clean car, and great project for a young man. The drivetrain is bullet proof and will give many miles of driving. When the day comes he wants  more, they can be upgraded easily.  I'd recommend a membership on aspenandvolare.com to tech get tips and help with parts hunts.

Nice score!  I'd really like to see one of those with the bumpers shortened and tucked up close to the body.  Kind of like what a lot of people do with the 73-74 Challengers/Cudas.  That's the only thing that looks way out of place with those cars.  I wonder how hard that would be?

Burdar -- yeah we were wondering the same thing about the bumpers......they are mounted on cylinder-like deals ---- I guess so they compress when hit?

Could probably compress them in some and weld in place.....but that would defeat the safety feature.....

HP2-- thanks for the aspenandvolare.com lead...will check it out!

I have an appointment for tomorrow to get the exhaust pipe replaced and maybe a little better muffler.....gonna see what the shop recommends because I cant seem to find a favorite on the web.....like anything else I guess its what you like and your experience.....we want a little more rumble but not too loud or drony....not doing a whole exhaust right now...just the midpipe and muffler and maybe a tail pipe.

hell, thats a cat back I guess....LOL

I did that bumper mod on one of the F bodies I owned previously (I've had abround 6 of them). Used a fiberglass version. Narrowed and tucked in. I used small angle iron brackets to support it.  I've also done a mod with the stock steel bumpers where you remove all the internal bracing inside the chrome cover, then gutted the compression mounts and welded them solid. This took a bout 50# of weight out of the nose, but completely eliminated the compression safety feature fo the units. But they looked stock and weighed less.

There is a guy who has a 76 or thereabouts Volare and its light tan exterior on goat sh!t brown interior and for years I have wanted to buy it and twin turbo the 318 in it, throw an 8 3/4 in it with a posi, electric cut-outs on the exhaust and drive it as is.
