Heater hose fitting removal

I was getting ready to remove the triangle alternator bracket when I noticed that one of the bolts requires the heater hose fitting to be removed first.  Is there a trick to removing these without damaging the fitting?

I used a piece of flat bar and an adjustable wrench. Member on here "Johnscudashop" makes tools for this if you want?

You might get it out doing what Brad suggested and you might need to use a pipe wrench. The trick is to keep the pipe wrench application up where the marks will be covered by the hose and make sure you find a rod the same size as the interior of that fitting and put it inside before trying to crank it out or you'll collapse it. Heat / wax / penetrating oil are a good place to start not hard to get a new fitting but you need to get the old one out so pipe wrench or ...

Tack weld a nut on top of the fitting....so you can use a good wrench...and as chryco wrote   the heat will help to loosen the fitting also...

ya, a little propane flame on the alum housing around the fitting.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

Multiple applications of PB Blaster worked for me.

Penetrating oil and definately a plug of something that fits the inside diameter to keep it from collapsing when it is being wrenched on.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

Definitely a creeping oil like Kroil for some time and then if still subborn some heat.

I have to go to town on the last set and I luckly got it all out even after I crushed the cr*p out of them.

I have a stock manifold that had the heater nipple frozen solid - couldn't budge it with oil or heat or pipe wrench.  I ended up buying the removal tools from John's Cuda Shop.   They worked great.

If you have some large bolts that will fit inside that will keep your pipe wrench from crushing them.

Thanks all.  I was able to remove it with a piece of flat bar and a mallet.  It's probably time for a new fitting with all the corrosion but at least I was able to remove it without damage.
