Yep...started a year or so ago for me in my big toe! More painful that I would have ever thought.
I am not a big drinker, a few whiskeys on the weekend, most people associate gout with heavy drinking.
I have had only two flare-up since the first one.
The only change I made both times was having a fruit smoothie / protein shake for breakfast after my workout. After 2 weeks of smoothies, my gout flares up. I stopped the smoothies after the last flare up, changed noting else, and have not had a flare up since.
Sucks too...they were very filling!
