Not Happy with my brakes

70 Bcuda, stock 70 manual disc/drum all rebuilt. new master,lines p valve basicly everything new. car was converted from 4 wheel drum. firm pedal and the car will stop but can't lock it up. I would like a little better braking power but not at a 2k price tag.
Idea's? opinion's? Thanks!

7/8" master gives more pressure and better brake pads(porterfield r4-s) gives more grip.

170$ solution  :dunno:

Agreed, changing the master to a smaller bore will give you more brake pressure, at a price of longer pedal travel. That may be all you need, assuming all else is in good condition.

I have a 15/16" MC, couldn't find a 7/8".  I checked out the brake pads,50 somethin for a set.  will they be to much for the old stock 2 piece rotors?

Those are rotor frendly street pads. Drdiff has 4 to 2 stud adapter for master cylinder. That might work with other brand master. Ask Cass for bolt pattern.

I wish I would have done things differently. Had drums and put a disc brake setup from another 70. I got the parts way back before all the brake kits came out,should of kept the drum parts but didn't. I had the aluminum MC with adapter on but the thing leaked out the back so got rid of that junk,bought it off of MoParts back in the day.sat in the box for a few years and then it leaked. now I had a line get nicked and baked in dot 5 on the left rotor,car pulls hard on a hard stop to the right,probably glazed. still can't lock em up but it stops ok except for the pull to the right and with the granny steering it could be dangerous. I don't think the 2 piece rotors are worth another cut so new rotors at 200 bux a pop and pads is have way to a Dr Diff big brake kit. I did install some new ss brake hose though.

I knw the feeling , we all had drum brakes & tossed the spindles , now we need them  :banghead:

Power booster.... is the way to go.  I have the Factory set up... Powerbrakes  disc / drum....  with normal  Wagner pads   the car stops on a dime !

Disc braks without power assistence..is not realy funny..  because the disc brake needs much more pressure to works good

Great! So all I need to do is find a set and I can use 70 New Yorker rotors on my spindles.

So I scored a set of caliper adapters and sourced the 1970 New Yorker rotors at a reasonable price at a LPS. anything else I need to know or is it a straight forward swap?
