Open element air cleaner assembly recommendations

Looking for recommendations for an open element air cleaner assembly (for example, K & N) that works well and has no fitment issues.  Pictures, links, or part numbers would be helpful.  This would be for my stock 71 383 to help it breathe a little better.  Obviously, I would put back the stock air cleaner for shows. etc.

For a 14x3 I believe you will need a drop base, even with your bulge hood.

On my 340. Plenty of CFM and Looks Great!
Had to shorten it a little to get clearance from the hood. Should fit easy with a 383 since they are shorter than a 340 or 440.
Got it from Dave at Roseville. it is the 69 440 4bbl Air Grabber style with a K&N filter.

I have an extra K&N setup,  when home later will look up the model number, can have for shipping cost if you want, brand new, I used a different model K&N.

Hard to say.
I could have returned this one because it was too tall but I cut it down to make it work...
I removed about 7/8" of the carb throat. Rotozip, die grinder, sander... 3-4 hours all in.

The raw edge after cutting is a larger diameter hole because of the taper.
I originally thought I would need to weld in the piece I cut off to get it to seal to the carb but instead...
I used a section of black door edge guard on the cut edge to make up the difference.
Fits nice and should seal fine. I kept the original carb to air cleaner gasket in place.

I scribed a line.
Marked the line with tape so I could see it better.
I cut along the line with a rotozip and then used a belt sander to get it flat and level and remove the little jaggies from my less than perfect cut... I expected that so I cut a little less than the final amount I wanted to remove.
You may need to to take some material out of the center bar. I had to to clearance the air horns and the butterfly on my QuickFuel carb.

Final test fit with some plumbers putty. 7/8" at the center, more than an inch everywhere else.
