70 Challenger T/A
« on: May 30, 2016 - 11:17:13 AM »
I joined this site some months ago, and then kinda forgot about it.  I just re-discovered it.  Went over my newbie post, and discovered people were requesting pics of the T/A I am restoring.  I have had the car since about 1976 and have been dis-assembling it ever since.  I started the restoration in earnest in Sept. 2014.  Here are a couple of pictures of the first days at the shop that is doing the resto. :wavingflag:

Pictures of the car on the rotisserie.  I built the rotisserie myself.  Approx. 30 yrs ago, I went to a car show - there was a Hemi Roadrunner there that was really nice.  I contacted the guy that did the body work on it and asked him if he would be interested in doing my T/A.  He agreed to do it, so I hauled the car over to him (approx. a 2 hour drive).  It sat in his shop for about a year and he never touched it.  I checked with him periodically - and one time he said he needed a rotisserie to do the car right.  So I built the rotisserie and delivered it to him.  The car sat in his shop for about another year and a half.  He finally told me he did not want to restore the car, he was too busy with his day to day bodywork.  So I ended up hauling the car and rotisserie back home - and the car sat until now.  During that time, the rotisserie has been used by others to restore a '72 'Cuda and a '58 Thunderchicken - Oops, I mean -bird.

Nice car!  :wow:
Car looks so good. Can't see any major rust issue, what are you going to do with it?

Great looking car. If you're retired just clock 40 hours a week on it until it's done. That car is too nice to sit any longer!

@Ifixmycarmyself - These pictures were take in 2014 - I am in the process of restoring it - there were more rust issues than there looks (isn't that always the case).
@runcharger - I am semi-retired - so I can't devote 40 hrs per week - also, there is that whole money thing!
Here is the car with the rear axle out - It has a 3:91 sure grip.
I will continue to post pictures of the process so far - don't want to overload you guys with a flood of pictures.

A plum crazy T/A....beautiful car! Keep working on it. It must not have too much rust ot too many miles if it's been off the road since '76.   :working:
