70 Challenger T/A

@DaveH - I had a basic 1971 Challenger as my first car - 318 3 speed on the floor.  I saw the T/A model and fell in love with it.  I advertised in Hot Rod magazine - Car Wanted.  I received many responses, the most expensive one was a car with super low mileage.  They wanted $4500 for it.  That was out of my price range.  I decided on this one because it was close (Decatur, IL) and it was in my budget range.  I gave $1750. for it.  The rallye wheels were not on it (I am interested in buying a set for it).  Also, it had an engine fire.  After the fire the owner took off the 6 pk and put on a 4 bbl. but kept all the 6 pk pieces and included them with the car.  It had headers on it and a different exhaust system.  I drove it home and was so low on cash on the trip back, when I stopped for gas I had to put regular in it instead of premium.  As I recall, the car didn't like that so much.  Also, it had that "awesome" paint job  with white lace stripes and flat purple hood and spoiler.

As I stated in my last post, the engine in the T/A had a fire.  The center carb took most of the heat.  The car came with 2 spare center carbs.  I wanted to try to salvage the original center carb, however.
Sent the carbs to Eric at Vintage MuscleCar Parts  for restoration.  Attached are the before and after pictures.  Eric did an awesome job.  He saved the original center carb.  His service includes testing and setting the carburetors.  He also sent back the old pieces, not that I will be using them.

The car had more rust in it than what we originally thought.  Plus quarter panel on the drivers side had a bad dent in it at the top.  Ended up replacing the trunk floor, the Dutchman panel, both quarter panels and partial drivers floor pan.  Pics show passenger side quarter panel test fit and trunk floor installation.

ya you  done some panel work . But to me it looked like a super clean body to begin with .Great colour for a T/A   i must say. cant wait to see this one finished.
