Mopar sightings this morning...
« on: June 02, 2016 - 07:08:19 PM »
On the way to work this morning.
Following sightings,

a) bright orange 1970 Super Bee convertible

b) Maroon '67 Plymouth Barracuda

c) 1972? Dodge Dart, brown? hard to tell at 2 am.

d) Lime Light Plymouth SuperBird. Not hard to tell at 2 am, lol.

All on the way to work, all in the parking lot of the hotel I stay in away from home.

Marysville, KS is having their annual car show this weekend. Looks to be a few more Mopars than in the past?
For a small town, this car show delivers, year after year.

Many, Many nice cars. I think last year they had some 250 cars. 90% Very high quality. There is usually not many Mopars.
There is a local Ford dealer - named BOSS MOTORS. Last year he had like 32 BOSS Mustangs on display.
Every year, color, option available. It was phenominal. It truly was.

A few years ago, they were on the Hot Rod Power Tour route, LOT"S of cool cars passed thru.

For such a small town, (pop. less than 4,000?), their car show REALLY delivers - year after year. WELL worth your time if you are in the area. Good food, good people -
and GREAT CARS! I swear, about 6-7 years ago, at one hotel, there was 2 Mercedes Benz GullWing doors cars parked outside. I had the hotel driver
pull into the parking lot just to get a better look at them. HOLY SCHNIEKE! WOW!

HOW COOL IS THAT? lol. Many of these guys make a circuit, and Kansas City is next on the list. But for small town hospitality, you really can't beat the
Marysville Kansas show. It is a class act. All parked on the brick streets of downtown.

WHAT A WAY TO START TODAY! lol. (well, yesterday) It was so cool!
I'm not a spokesman, and am no way affiliated. On my way to work at 2 am, and saw all these beautiful Mopars in the hotel parking lot.

LUCKY ME! lol! Gave me a peaceful, easy feeling for the rest of the day.

Sorry, this was put in the wrong forum.
I'm a ludite. meant to put it in the regular forum? Mods, could you help me out? THANK YOU.

Sorry everybody. This is the wrong forum.

I'm an idiot - but then everyone here already knows that.

PLEASE let every one know that there is a cool car show in a small town in the midwest. Free.

THANK YOU. 250 cars is no small thing. It really is worth your time.

That's all.

Crazy as it is, sadil340, I missed the car show ( here one day - gone, then back 2 days later) and was talking to the lady that checks us into the hotel.
A day later, (after the car show) and the girl at the front desk is telling me that none of those guys were in the car show?

Crazy, it is! lol. MAN, IT was SO nice seeing all that iron, though. Seriously. So nice.
They just happened to be passing through. Had to be a bunch of Mopar buddies.
It was a mind warp, for sure. It was all Mopar. A good thing, lol.

Reminded me of the high school parking lot when I was a kid. Little town of 3500.
Mustangs, Firebirds, Cameros, Trans-Ams Novas, Chevelles, Chargers, a Cuda, maybe a Challenger, it was all good.
Muscle cars like you couldn't believe. Seriously, they were cheap back then. Graduated in 1981.
It's just the way it was. Stuff was dirt cheap, back then. No adult wanted them.
This was in a small town. I'm sure it was like that almost everywhere.

I think that's why this point in time will never be repeated.
Cars back then were $200o - $3000 or less.

No way a kid can afford a cool car nowadays.
That period in history is over. It will never occur again.

Now, these cars are crazy priced. No kid can afford them. That's all. No kid can afford a car on mowing lawn salary.
And they don't want classic muscle, anyway. They can't afford the new versions, either.
Sad, it is.

Sad. It will never be the way it once was.

Dealers tried to GIVE away winged cars. Some took the wings off and converted them to regular cars to move them. Serious.
No one wanted them.

Man, those days are LONG gone, lol.

Like going back in time.
That's the feeling i had yesterday leaving Mopars in the Park south of Minneapolis.  It was near the end of the show so people were leaving in their cars.  So i pull up to this red light.  On the other side of the intersection I see a Hellcat pulling up for gas.  To the left of me ablack 70 cuda and a red superbird pull up to the lights my light goes green.  I drive away but shortly that 70 cuda was right behind me. It was cool just seeing that cuda in the rear view mirror for 5 miles or so.

I was headed to the Albion Tri-State Mopar show yesterday. Ran into a group of new Mopars while getting gas. They invited me to tag along with them since we were headed the same direction. I rode along about 60 miles and enjoyed the ride. The lead car was a Hellcat along with 6 other Challengers , a couple Chargers , a Dart , and a Viper.

Yes it literally poured most of the trip to the show. The skies cleared for a few hours, the show was good ,then it rained again, drove about 20 miles in rain on the way home then it cleared and was sunny. I had way more fun than I would have if I would have been afraid to get the car wet. I always say "Wipers were not optional equipment in 1970!!!"
