PST warranty question
« on: June 06, 2016 - 08:14:26 AM »
Any one have to use PST's lifetime warranty? I have had a strut rod bushing fail and my original invoice is long gone. I will give them a call today and see what I need to do, but I was wondering if any one else has had to have a warranty replacement? If so how did it go for you?

This fell off yesterday when I pulled into the gas station.

Ok, here is how it went when Matt from PST returned my voice mail from this morning.

NO INVOICE. NO WARRANTY. He basically said I am SOL without an original invoice. Said it states that in the policy. What a crock. How many people keep paperwork from 10-11 years ago, especially after 2 moves and a divorce?  He could see in his system I had made the purchase back then but still could not help me. WTF? Hadn't anyone heard of using computers back then? I stated that I hope he doesn't mind if I post the result of this conversation. Still didn't phase him.  >:(

So for anyone else in my situation, my advice is don't loose your paperwork from PST.  :2cents:

Now I got to get some new strut bushings.  :(

Got new Prothane 4-1202-bl bushings coming. $17.37 with free shipping. Cheapest I could find in a hurry.

Guess what I'm doing next weekend?  :working:

Mine just did the same thing.  I can't say for sure if it was PST though.  My car only has 1500mi since the rebuild.  What would cause this to fail?  I can feel my car pull a bit towards the side that failed while I'm hard on the brakes.  I have decided to go with the Hotchkis strut bars.  They are not cheap, but they don't have any rubber bushings either.  Jegs was cheapest, and with direct ship from Hotchkis, expected delivery still isnt for almost 2 weeks. Looks like I put more miles on my motorcycle instead.

Poor quality or design , back when they were installing 100s every day on the assy line they had a premium product now how many do you think sell every day ?

I might have 3000 miles on mine. But it was over 10 years ago they were installed. It is supposed to be a better product than the stock rubber, but this one looks like it was chewed up and spit out. The Hotchkis strut may be an option in the future, but for now I'm just going to fix em. This bushing came off the drivers side front, so if I had to brake hard it would do the same as yours. Lucky I found it before any trouble happened.

I have found what is supposed to be a premium rubber set, but they cost.  :eek4:  The Prothane bushings were cheaper than the rubber. Go figure. :dunno:

After less than 3 years on m '61 Ranchero, the dust boots on all four ball joints disintegrated.  I emailed PST, and they needed an invoice number to open a case.  No problem, I had the invoice and gave them the number.  A month later, I emailed them again, and they said the invoice number wasn't valid  I sent them a copy of the invoice.  A month later, I emailed them and they said they were looking into it.  A month later, I emailed them and they said they'd send new parts (just the dust boots).  A few weeks later, they arrived.  By then, I had replaced the ball joints with Moog parts, since it was just as easy as replacing just the boots.

For my Challenger, I didn't even consider PST.  I ordered Moog parts across the board, most of them from Rock Auto.  Sorry, but I'm done with PST.
