I expect the Black powder coat to be just as smooth as the silver powder coat that came on them from Year One.
Will definitely look at samples first. Would have dropped them off today but they were closed.

Powder coat experience can make a difference on how it lays out.

I've seen smooth and I've seen peel before.

I once spent a year working at one.

They come highly recommended by my painter.
I'm pretty picky about some things (Translation = Really Anal)... Texture definitely not going to fly. I'll ask about their no texture guarantee.

Been making slow progress but here is a little of what I've been up to.

The hinge looks a little crusty... Can it be saved?

Molasses and water in a 3" conduit and wire wheel. Not perfect but will do until I find a better one. Pitted on the back side and a few pin holes.  :(

LCA's cleaned up nice. Will be adding stiffening plates and sway bar tabs. Molasses treatment, wire wheel and then Evaporust to finish them off.
55 Gal Drum with 10:1 Water:Molasses. Have one plastic drum that is full and one that is 1/4 full for smaller parts. Saw it on YouTube! Molasses from the Feed Store.
Why not just Evaporust? Hoping to extend the life of the evaporust by getting most of the rust off with the molasses treatment.

Some more parts blasted. Scored the use of a Harbor Freight small blast cabinet on Facebook. Neighbor was giving it away. He's finishing up a 69 Charger.
I was second to respond but the guy who scored it told me to go get it and he would get it from me when I was done with it.  :2thumbs:

Bumper brackets, Molasses first and then blasted.

Wired up to go into the barrel.

Dash Frame in the soup.

Brake pedal, Molasses / blasted

That hinge looks pretty bad, not sure it will clean up and leave enough metal to be useful.

great job overall though, you are making good progress.

Thanks Mike, Slow and steady...
A couple pin holes and a lot of pitting on the back side but not too bad considering how bad it was. It will do for now. Will look to replace it if I find a good one.

Pulled the Rear Seat Back Center Latch Cover Fish Medallion.
Cleaned it.

Sanded out some of the pits and masked it.

Primed it

And painted it with some silver caliper paint I had extra.

While far from perfect, it turned out as well as I had hoped, maybe better.  :2thumbs:

Maybe an hour total labor. Mostly waiting for paint to dry.

Flying out to Philly tomorrow for work, so while I'm there I'm going to stop by Totally Auto and say hi.
I shipped my complete grills to them for a quote to completely restore them.
Will have some time on Wednesday to stop by and talk with them and see their store/shop.
It will be a nice little side trip to Feasterville PA.

Look for it on YouTube, there's quite a few vids that I found searching for rust removal. Takes time. I soaked the hinge and some of the other parts for a couple weeks.

Can you see the pics now?
