That gives me a great idea for my next build.

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCBL720P1-Lithium-Brushless-Blower/dp/B00TL72F2E

Yep I already have it and man does it move some air.

400 CFM is alot,

You could put it on your engine with a linkage and have a homemade Supercharger.    :grinyes:

Nice! It just so happens for my 35 year service award I picked the Dewalt 20V 4 tool kit wit charger and 2 batteries.  :2thumbs:
Can order bare Blower without battery. It's in my Amazon cart saved for later with about 100 other things... Maybe when my corded Toro dies.

Another thing:

Aluminum Oxide is lighter than sand. Easier to remove since it's lighter.
Easier to remove but is more aggressive in stripping.

A man's got's to know his limitations.

Using this type of media requires a strategy on what areas it's being used on. PSI & CFM.

I'll discuss it with my painter. He has a blaster he likes to use. I'm only doing a some blasting myself.
The majority will go with the car to media blast. Will find out what media is used or if they use different media on different parts of the car.  :dunno:
I will strip the rear end and some other small parts that I can't screw up...  :misbehaving:

My suggestion is use Aluminum Oxide or Rosette on rigid metal. Not outer body sheet metal.
That is why I stripped my outer shell by hand. It took longer but there was no risk of warping.
Use glass bead on metal already stripped of paint & primer such as quarter panels.

Sand is really nasty stuff when blasted. It creates Silica dust. Can become fatal with enough exposure.
Proper protection is a sealed breathing system when using sand.

  • Mopar or No Car!

I've done both Sand and Aluminum Oxide blasting and I get the sense that the Aluminum is not something you want to be breathing very much. Definitely wear a respirator when going at it, even with my cabinet it still leaks and I use a vacuum to pull the dust as well.

Works great for parts less than 3.5 feet long.

As for the 400 CFM blower motor, it will last 26 mins at full blast so yeah it could be fun if you let her rip.  :smilielol:

Proper protection is a sealed breathing system when using sand.

Have a small blast cabinet [A Loaner] with both glass bead and aluminum oxide available for the small parts.
Read lots about the silica dust and why sand is not a safe product for blasting. Nasty stuff indeed!
I only use sand with the Pressure washer attachment which keeps the dust down.
Wife is a certified Hazmat technician and has several sealed respirators and filters that I can choose from to put to use.
Your precautions are well received TC and wise words for anyone contemplating "Sand" blasting.  :2thumbs:
Best to keep all media blasting dust out of your lungs!

Media Blasting ranks as one of the dirtiest jobs I ever did.

I did the underside of my car and I swear media was still coming off of me 2 days later even after showering both days.

Just got an update that my full Left & Right AMD quarter panels ETA has been changed from late August to early October. :walkaway:
AMD says they are on a ship heading this way. The actual Slow Boat From China...

Plenty of other parts to clean and restore though.  :working:
Lots to work on but have not had much time to work on it.
We did get the doors disassembled and the undercoating scraped out of them.
The undercoating has been stripped off the bottom of the car and nothing left to remove but the rear quarter glass.
The door glass needs to be replaced, has big scratches. The rear glass is in great shape. All the Glass was factory Green Tint.

Will be looking for a glass source for the Windshield, door glass and quarter glass.
Who have you guys used. Want to stay with the Green Factory tint so it all matches.

Also thinking about Viper front seats. Lots of them on EBay. These are $500 plus freight.

Heading to see Heart, Joan Jett and Cheap Trick tonight. Tomorrow Wedgewood car show with the ragtop to defend our title.

At work we were waiting on a delivery from China, getting close to the date then the call, a little delay we were told the ship sunk.

Randy,

look for Neon SRT seats as well. That is what I showed you when you were here. I think the Viper seats are great, but might be a little wide.
