cuda trunk latch bracket direction

which way should the trunk lid latch plate be mounted onto the bottom of the lid?

with the larger side of the pin towards the rear of car like this?
or forward?

(latch plate has the pin , with a larger head on one side and the other appears to be factory
flared by a press/punch holding it in the bracket)

I've seen them both ways....not that I go both ways....
