I limited  the advance,,,down to 10 deg...   but 10 deg is still too much...  and less ? Does it make sence to look for
2-4 deg.?? Don´t know...but I think it is a waste of time...

I think the CR is too high....Unfortunatly...I don´t konw...what they did with engine..when they rebuild the engine...in North Carolina..  ( perhaps they wanted to make a real Richard Petty Racer out of him ?? )
Flat Top pistons...  milled X Heads... HP Manifolds  71 Intake...  more than 180 PSI comression on each Cylinder...
unknown cam...  that need a huge number of timing @ idle...  and a carb that needs to be "upjetted" from 095 /1940
to 098 /1966 ....

if there were some signs of dripping oil...or something    I had a reason to pull the heads and the cam  just for knowing....  what `s going on....

well, 5 degs is better than 0 degs, :D  but who knows if it will work-have to try it and see....or go up a notch on the cruise fuel.

sometimes, more can be better :)  I have found that many cars of this generation cruise best around 13.5-1 because fuel distribution is not as even as with port injection.  All it takes is one lean cylinder to get a little rattle.

I don't recall what you said about AF so you may be there already

You may need to eliminate vacuum advance altogether if you have pinging at cruise. Most high compression engines use centrifugal only, 36 or so degrees all in... Can you get fuel with a higher octane rating or use an additive to increase the same?

I ditched my vac advance. Gave better throttle response.
