    Mighty men of the house: At the front base of your refrigerator, there's a screen like panel that pops off, and inside are some heat exchanger coils/tubes/fins that can lint up, and need vacuuming. I just discovered!

    Your lucky....my wife makes me clean ours once a month...... :stirpot:  :crazy:  :smilielol:

    To meet energy requirements, the compressors are much smaller then they once were and they are much more sensitive to heat.  The main cause of compressor failure is not cleaning the coils on a regular basis.(so I was told when we purchased our fridge)  I'll be honest.  I've only cleaned mine once.  There is no easy way to get it done.  The coils are all under the unit.  Even if you could vacuum out the first row, you have multiple rows across the bottom.  Last spring I ended up dragging the air hose into the house and blew out all the coils.  Of coarse that just blew dust and food crumbs around the entire kitchen.

    Should have brought into the kitchen a pile of greasy car parts to attract and catch the errant fuzz...

    Also make sure that the condenser fan motor hasn't failed.  Mine quit shortly out of warranty.

    Have a close look at your fridge.  Mine has multiple rows of coils/fins covering the entire bottom.  The only way to clean them is to blow them out.

    Since we are on home cleaning tips don't forget to clean out the drier lint trap hose. Have heard of house fires from them being plugged.
    Pic above works for that also.
    Or... the air hose because that's the man's way.

    The wife and I just went through our dryer a couple months ago.  It was making a horrible racket.  Youtube to the rescue!  It's amazing what you can find online.  We were able to diagnose the problems and fix it ourselves.  The washing machine, on the other hand, was beyond hope and we put it out of its misery.

     Our dryer duct had plugged completely, I had to get a drill attached router snake to get it working again.

     Some refers have the coils set as a round basket back by the fan, a little easier to clean.

    Well I am leaving here for a bit.
    Time to go and change out the heater/air filter and while at it I will also handle the water filtration.

    Let me know if anyone needs an update on how it went.
    Oh and I will be placing an order for some Dynamat to redeem myself.
