Will do. Should be a blast to drive. Just wish i had have know about all of the the US Car Tools stiffening parts before I got this far with the body  :banghead:

Can't you still add them or did you purchase another brand? The subframe connectors are a good mod and the inner fender braces are built for a tank.

I have the Hotchis connectors but i didn't know about the fender braces existed until recently and never gave much thought to the lower radiator brace. The guy who is doing the body would probably do a major  :money: as he would have to redo some of the work he's done.....

Ahh, I didn't notice the engine bay area was already painted. Looks great though.

Here's my engine specs. I'd be interested in your thoughts on my build. I'm hoping for about 500hp/500tq at the wheels. Reckon I'll make it?

I decided not to stroke the original 340 as I would be left over with parts that wouldn't be worth that much and i wanted to go for alloy heads. I decided to fork out the money for a new MP 340 block (ouch) and flip the complete 340 as I'd get more for it running. In retrospect (been doing a lot of that) I should have gone for a big block but I'd already bought the gear box kit and other parts  :blah: I kept the 6 pack set up to reuse and I like the idea of big, small blocks.

The parts:

MP 340 block, Scat forged rotating assembly (swapping out I beam rods for H beam)
Edelbrock performer heads, Comp roller lifters, Crane 1.6 rockers, Comp roller cam (grind not confirmed yet)
Milodon race pan & windage tray, ARP bolt set
MP 6 pack intake, TTI ceramic headers, MSD ignition

Rotating assembly has been balanced, heads ported, seats cut, intake was going to be ported with abrasive compound but engine builder said it flowed OK so he just opened up a little what he could get to. Compression will be around 11:1.

I know the cam choice will be critical and I'm looking for the best of both worlds, loppy sound with good manners. I dont plan on racing it so it will be really just a street car. Do you think I will get close to my power target?

Here are some pics.

No guess for your power numbers but the updates are a good read.

Thanks for posting up.

Engine coming along. Lou says Edelbrock heads out of box are 'just OK'.  He stripped them down, re-cut the seats, swapped out the springs, redid the guides and did some porting and opening up. The block needed some machining to house the bar link roller lifters too. Cant wait for the finished product...

Got the rear disks on this weekend. What a nightmare... The old bearings wouldn't budge - even under a 15 ton press. Angle grinder was the only way. The calipers are 2.5mm too high and I have to machine the spacer so they are centered in the rotors. Anyway its progress  :bananasmi

Looks great. What will you do for a parking brake?  Are you required to have one to get it on the road?  I ask because we are here in Canada.

I have the Wilwood hand brake kit to fit up to it. In Australia we have insanely strict car rules IMO.

I'm looking for some guidance on a final drive ratio too guys...

I have a TKO 600 5 speed with an overdrive of .68. I am looking for a balance of nasty acceleration but good drivability in traffic  as it will be 99% a street car. I'm thinking 3.55. Thoughts?

I have a 741 case. Is it worth swapping it out to a 489 case when I change the final drive to an LSD? Its not a burning priority yet as the car is still some way off being on the road but I'd like to know what to start saving for.
