Looks great. What will you do for a parking brake?  Are you required to have one to get it on the road?  I ask because we are here in Canada.

Those look to have integrated ebrake drums as well.

Got the rear disks on this weekend. What a nightmare... The old bearings wouldn't budge - even under a 15 ton press. Angle grinder was the only way. The calipers are 2.5mm too high and I have to machine the spacer so they are centered in the rotors. Anyway its progress  :bananasmi

Are those the ~12.2" rotors?

I have the Wilwood hand brake kit to fit up to it. In Australia we have insanely strict car rules IMO.

I'm looking for some guidance on a final drive ratio too guys...

I have a TKO 600 5 speed with an overdrive of .68. I am looking for a balance of nasty acceleration but good drivability in traffic  as it will be 99% a street car. I'm thinking 3.55. Thoughts?

I have a 741 case. Is it worth swapping it out to a 489 case when I change the final drive to an LSD? Its not a burning priority yet as the car is still some way off being on the road but I'd like to know what to start saving for.

The 3.55 is a pretty good compromise, even without the overdrive. Although with a 0.68 final gear, I might be tempted to go 3.91.

I got mine from Magnum Force when I bought the front brakes and drop spindles. The item numbers are -

1 WIL 140-11395 11" 4-Piston - Drilled/Slotted Rear Brakes $675.00
1 WIL 260-8419 Knob Style Proportioning Valve $45.00
1 WIL 330-9371 Rear Parking Brake Cables $119.95
2 RRP BCA56001Green Bearing w/ Snap Ring $70.00 EA $140.00

They were really cheap to ship to Australia and Clint was super helpful and swapped out the red calipers for black - and trusted me to ship the red ones to him later from the other side of the world!

You also need to get the bearing set too as they are not even close to the original ones, if you are going the drum park brake (which mine are). My rotors are 11" - but bigger is always better  :ylsuper:

3.91 - Yeah that's how I'm leaning too. First gear wouldn't get much use would it?

On a road course, with a 3.91, you'll be shifting a lot... and probably end up using the OD gear on occasions/on track... pending your top-end speeds.   With my 727/340, I've run a 4.30... too much rpms, 3.91... still too much rpms... 3.55... better with longer length in rpm range, I've settled with 3.23... most road courses run in 2-3 gears with breathing room.

For pylon autocrossing... the 3.23 can be run all in 1st gears, a little in 2nd.  The 3.55 requires more 2nd gear.   The 3.91 is great but needs occasional 2nd more often.   The 4.30 spins the tires too easily and AX pylon courses mostly run in 2nd gear.

Well I've gone from  :bananasmi to  :banghead: in 60 seconds! My engine guy just called me to tell me my new block is junk. Apparently the MP 340 Block I bought about 3 years ago is no longer available - because its crap.

He machined the block to accept the link bar roller lifters and resulting pushrod angle... and hit a water jacket. The geometry is all wrong for roller lifters. I'm told that these blocks cant be bored out to .060 either as the walls are too thin.

Has anyone had any experience with these blocks or heard any reports about them?

OK salvaged the block and got the roller lifters to fit. Engine complete and dyno coming up soon :thumbsup:

My engine guy overreacted a bit. He threaded the hole, inserted fitting and then welded it up. Pressure tested to 70lbs ok. Hopefully it will be on the dyno before Christmas.
