Lifting front end of e-bodies, safest way?
« on: June 18, 2016 - 04:29:11 PM »
Just want to make sure I am safely lifting and supporting the front end as I work underneath.  Where do you guys place the floor jack and jack stands?  Rear end makes sense but front end can have multiple positions.

Floor jack under the Kmember, jack stands there around the front frame bump stop

:iagree:  Be sure that the jack does not go in too far on the K-member or it will slip and possibly hit your oil pan.

If I am putting the front up for any extended peroid of time I always use the front frame to support the Cuda. It will be the area just under the drivers and passengers feet area.

:iagree:  I place them on the front frame rails directly in front of the torsion bar x-member.  Just make sure the stand is on a flat area of the rail...not where it starts curving up into the engine compartment.

That's exactly where I place mine, but I always leave the jack resting against the K member because I worry about the engine weight causing a slight droop because the car is a unibody. Never worried about that on a full framed car. Am I being a little paranoid here?
