gonna have to find that issue. Is that using the 440 source kit?

I only street race, and don't take it to the drag strip.  It should have over 600 hp, and
I have the car weight down to 3250.  Plus the cam will allow winding to 6500 rpm.
I'm sure if someone wanted to beat the snot out of it, it might dip into the 10's, but won't
be me, as I'm trying to make it last as long a possible as is, before having to do any expensive
rebuilding.

what? at the end of the article, the engine makes 311 hp???????

Chassis dyno?  about 375 at flywheel or so.  But not using your choice of cam, pistons and such, or your type of heads.

Dumb question so please forgive my ignorance................

If strokers are so great, why didn't the factory build engines to these specs ? Does the old saying "You can't get something for nothing" apply ?

they had to make cars to satisfy the masses, and they had to control cost, I suspect.

when they invented their engine it had a stroke. Cadilac had a 500 and others had big cubes and strokes way back when. Anything can be invented

Chrysler tended to over engineer everything .have you looked a t a small block ford or chev beside a 340/360 block ? The Mopar block is a Lot bigger allowing a better starting point for lightening internal parts & increasing displacement especially with the extra tall deck heights . yes you give up some lngevity & add side loading but most of these engines are not going to be driven 100,000+ miles like the factory intended & I bet they still will go 100,000+ !

I did the 496 to my 383 2 years ago,  it put down over 480 rwhp and 490 rwtq,  and has 16 in vac for power brakes ,and I put over 10,000 of hard miles on it too, it's a awesome package!  No regrets doing it, and it will blow the tires off at 50 mph!  Lol,  all I can say is its alot better then the 383!
