New intake...worth it???

 I have a weiand 8007 intake on my mild built 73 340.  Heads are bigger than stock...2.02 valves, mild cam, carter afb, stock eveything else.  Thinking of buying the edelbrock 7576 air gap rpm intake.  Am I wasting my money and time?  A friend of mine thinks this would be a worthy upgrade.

Any opinions?  Any other threads on this topic?  Mainly looking for more info on the edelbrock air gap rpm intake.

I would agree the Air Gap should be worth a few extra HP

Hi Neil....

did the (007 intake work well..with the bigger heads ?  I am aking because I had some issues while wanted to use a 2176 Ede Performer Intake ..which is nearly  the same Intake....  I have the   X heads with 2,02 Valves... and the ports are big..  bigger than a OEM 73 Head

I am sorry, I dont know about these cars so hard to say if the intake is any better than others.  The car runs great with the intake.  My main reason for changing it is I hate the color on it and it seems easier (but more expensive) to get a new one as I like the natural aluminum look.

It is a well liked intake and my car hauls butt and I would like to keep it, just hate the paint color on it now.  The stock intakes from 73 are worth changing.  I am going to buy the edelbrock 7576 air gap as I live in a hot climate and it is a well respected intake.

I run an Edelbrock Air Gap on my '68 340. It's .060" over, KB 243 hyper pistons, Lunati 60404 cam, duration 276/ 284, Lift .513/ .533. Compression ~9.8:1. Ported 308 heads flowing 264 cfm @ .500", Holley 750 Ultra DP, Doug's headers, and the Air Gap intake. Works pretty well, warm up takes a little longer on cold mornings but if you're in a warm climate it's not really a big deal, set the choke a little longer. I've been very happy with mine. I don't know if it will be a huge improvement over the 8007, depends on how built up your engine is. But it's a better intake if you've got the engine to match it.
