I went to Mecum on Friday and while it was a lot of fun for my first time (scored a $10 ticket instead of paying the full $30 entry fee) there was nothing there overly impressive. Maybe its me but it seems the big hype of Mecum (and BJ and R&S) may be declining. Although Mecum sold 402 of the 611 (66%) of the vehicles for over $11M. The top sellers were a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL R-Code car with 427-ci engine for $155,000, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window for $140,000 and a 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo at $80,000. So nothing crazy like other auctions but still $11M total. BTW, this '71 Valiant sold for $25,500.
