71 and 72 plus parts lot
« on: June 29, 2016 - 11:25:08 AM »
First off I know this is vague and hard to gauge. but I was wondering about a rough estimate on what something would be worth.
I have a guy that wants to make me a "package deal" on a 71 and a 72. lets assume for the time being that they are both BH cars.
the 72 is pulled apart for some repairs but he has all the parts to assemble.
the 71 is complete, the suspension is rebuilt and painted. could be made to be a driver with little work.
both have drive trains and full interior.

I can see four front fenders several door panels, a few grilles, but where I don't know what years they fit yet we can not count those.

I guess with the assumption that these cars are basic v8 barracuda cars and the one has the front end disassembled, what would a value on this be? If I do purchase these, I will probably be taking the parts that I want and selling the rest. I don't have the need for 3 E-Bodys.
as soon as I get pictures I will post them up.

If the 71 is a lot closer to driving...I would say $12K-$15K  :2cents:

:iagree: If the 71 has at least that much to it, I would offer &15,000 and see were it go's from there.

well he isn't willing to budge on the price, so my new thought is that the '72 really isn't in a condition to buy and flip. what is the '71 worth as it sits? I would definitely throw that GM steering wheel in the garbage and get a correct one. do some assembly and get it running again. looks to me that it needs the rear quarter patch panels at a minimum, front fender on the drivers side, can't see the passenger. and some seat upholstery.

So what do you think the lot is worth minus the '72?

by the way I appreciate all the input on these, they are kinda hard for me to judge the value because when you look at them for sale they are all over the board it seems. If all else fails I guess I can put it on Ebay and get my money back, they seem to sell for stupid money on there.

Although I bow to the knowledge of both Alan and Dave here; personally, I don't think those 2, 318 lumps are worth $15k- period. They're not the desirable models and you'll sink a ton of money into them and have- 2, 318 cars that IMHO won't be worth the dough you sunk into them. But then, that's just my  :2cents: worth.

That's kind of my thought on it as well, he wants 6k for the '72 and 8k for the '71. The parts lot is 2500.
The only way I see it being a decent deal is if the 71 does run and drive, pick it up and put minimal work in it to make it sound and sell it off. But if I have to put 4k in it there isn't any money left.
