Need a pic of an e body engine (v-8) on a K member that both are removed from the car: Im researching of how folks have supported the k member and engine when they were removed from the car as a whole. Im about to do the same

Be taking them out and putting them in using this since 1994.....dozens of times.

Nice pics. Thanks for your time. Funny, I was thinking the same exact setup. I have the same dolly and was planning the same. Did you remove the one side of the dolly for tranny clearance?

I actually made that one with just three pieces of tubing and some wheels. I have used the base of an engine stand before as well.

I used a a set of roller pads for snowmobiles , 3 pads 4 castors each 1 under each control arm pivot & 1 under the tailshft , I used them numerous times too

In order to clear my engine hoist legs. I am considering welding up a deal on each side. Two uprights about 10 inches high with castors on the bottom and attach through the K-frame to framerail holes using the K-frame bolts tight in from the top, I would weld the two uprights together with a piece of angle to keep them from collapsing frontwards or rearwards and run a small piece of angle welded to this setup and bolted to the sway bar mounting brackets so the legs can't spread outwards. Then I will just support the trans with a jack.
Has anyone done this before? (hopefully I explained it clearly enough).

I bought mover dollies from Harbor Freight. They can handle quite a bit of weight.

I'm not quite ready to mount my engine to the K frame yet, but I have an furniture dolly that converts to from vertical to horizontal. I plan on using that. Very heavy duty and 4 large wheels in the horizontal position.

So not to jump in but, I have a few mover dollies...ruffly how much does a 340 weigh with a 4 speed? I'm afraid it would be too heavy!!

I'm thinking at least 900lbs. 500 for the engine, 150 for the trans, then there's the alternator, starter, clutch, flywheel, headers etc. oh heck then there's the weight of the K and the suspension.

Okay, no photos but I just have to post this. I installed the 572 today. I had the assembly hanging on my engine hoist and was going to weld a cart up for it when the light bulb went off. I had the K-member straddling the engine hoist legs and it was supported by a trolley jack under the trans mount. Ding, why not just unhook the hoist chain and roll it under the car? No cart needed.
It was just a bit more complicated, we rolled it under, then hooked up the engine hoist chain and raised the front of the assembly a bit then dropped it on some wood underneath the skid plate on the K-member. We did this to facilitate bringing the hoist frontwards a foot to hook to the body with a chain hooked to two bumper bolts to raise then lower it a bit on the jack stands. With the body lowered and resecured I shortened the engine lift chain as much as I could and then lifted the assembly up with the engine hoist and secured the trans mount and K-member bolts. It helped the car has a shaker hood that allowed the engine hoist arm to go higher when lifting the assembly up into the body.
Tomorrow onto the fuel injection installation....
