The old carb question

Hey, so I'm finishing up my engine right now and it's time to decide what carb I should go with?!
My engine is a stock built 340 with stock intake and heads!
what would you guys recommend? Stock Carter AVS? Or something more modern?

If you have a Spread bore Intake....

Thermoquad ! Hands down

if you have a square bore intake...

He's working on a 1970 so it would be a square bore.

Anybody use those Eldelbrock carbs ?

all stock, about 600 cfm
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

 :iagree: as long as you want to use 50 year old technology
 newer carbs are much more tunable  , Proform & Quick fuel are awesome carbs , even EFI is now available for around $1200 or so

I don't wanna go the EFI route! But I was definitely thinking to get a new one!

I'm done with carbs. FITech is $995 and as easy as bolting on a new carb. If you must run a carb I would try a 650 AVS.
