440 Casting numbers????
« on: July 03, 2016 - 10:18:48 AM »
We have a 1971 E-body (Cuda) with an RB 440 and need original exhaust manifold casting numbers! We have been able to find all kinds of casting numbers like what's on this link:

http://www.mymopar.com/extcastnumb.htm

but can't find the numbers for our car, it only lists A, B & C-bodies. Am I missing something?

Our car actually has a 1975 440 in it as we had to replace the engine. Not sure if that matters but we need stock manifolds for our engine.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. We can't have HP manifolds because we don't think they will fit, and we don't want damage done to our valve covers. Does anyone know what STOCK casting numbers are or where we can find some.

HP Manifolds will fit- they'll sit close on the passenger side but fit fine. Get the hi-heat gaskets and hi-temp RTV so you get a heat-resistant seal.
I have a 75 RB block with HP manifolds in my 70 Challenger and everything fits fine. I used the Superformance Carbon X V-C gaskets.

The HP manifolds I listed will fit any 383/440 head including most aftermarket aluminum heads. :2cents:

Anlauto is correct, the exhaust manifold chart used for reference above is incorrect. The exhaust manifold castings should be 865 left and 879 right. The chart is incorrect for many other applications as well.

Can I see pics of your motor and exhaust? I'd like to see pics to show my husband because we've been having this debate... Thanks so much for all your input and help!
