no using smaller jets doesn`t help milage , , the fuel is metered in proportion to the air flow & the engine will flow the same air no matter which carb is used , , a smaller carb will have higher air speed through the venturi & may be more efficient at mixing air & fuel at lower RPM .
By using a smaller jet the mixture is leaned out & power is lost so often smaller jetting makes milage much worse than being jetted correctly , also using anular boosters in carbs help mix fuel more efficientl;y 7 can result in power & milage gains

Will a 3310-3 fit and work with a "modified" 340?  If so, does it also require an adaptor? The intake is an LD340.

get the cheapest price , I would use the 770 , they are universal but you need the linkage adapter 20-7

the 3310 is a great carb for 340 , you may need a 1/2 " spacer to raise the carb for clearance , it will bolt onto the LD340

Hey Winsotn - I am in the exact same boat. My car is going back together now also. It is going to have a stock cam, dual plane M1 manifold, etc. It had a Holley Street Avenger carburetor on it. I dont know what size it was but it did have a stumble on take off and its pretty nasty looking. I may replace it. Does anyone know what size this is?

mike, wish i could help you out on that carb.  i'm sure someone here will be able to identify it for you.  i'm probably going to use that afb that was identified in the other thread i started until i can find an original avs one that is supposed to be on there.  that's a pretty car you have there.  also, i noticed you have a '95 sc400....how are you enjoying that?  i had a '92 sc300 5-speed and loved it.

I agree w/ Chryco.. the "stock" 70 340 6-pak had 950 cfm.. If you have the 2.02 heads w/ 68cc chambers / flattops.. you should be able to run a 750 easy. My favorite for my 340 is the 750 annular street demon.. go w/ the mighty demon if your cam is bigger than 240 @ .050 New Demons are great carbs.. snap your head back.   :burnout:

650 is too small for the 340 IMO

this shows how much i have to learn.   :-[    i thought tree was asking about the dodge demon's carbs, and i got to thinking, why would they be a whole lot different than any other mopar's cars?   ;D

this is probably something i should have kept to myself.       oh well, we gotta start somewhere.  i've always known how to drive these cars, i'm just a novice at working on them.  :driving:

Winston.. another suggestion.. as long as it's affordable to you.. when it comes to carbs, you are better off buying new and buying a GOOD performance carb. Less headaches. Many carbs are good w/ a rebuild, but many times the metering blocks are worped etc.. so the lamen will be stuck w/ low performance.

If you just want to tool around, you can go with a 650.. if you want to feel what the 340 has to offer.. go with a QUALITY PERFORMANCE 750. The reg Holley just dumps gas.. you want a fine aspiration.

there is a list # on the front of the choke horn , from that I can get the size of the carb you have
A larger carb will not Dump fuel , an engine will only run on a given mixture & amount of fuel , the 6 pack can be one of the most effecient systems even at almost 1000 CFM

I've said it before and i will say it again...Holley carburetors make good doorstops. While I do run one on my supercomp dragster, remember that I work on that car all of the time so changing a fuel bowl gasket or power valve is no big deal. But, I don't think that you want a gas leaking, power valve blowing piece of crap on your daily driver. Don't get me wrong, I have a 6 pak small block setup and a 6 pak 440 setup and I won't get rid of them because they are mopar cool. I don't drive the six pack cars very often and they always need attention. The biggest mistake is not seperating the daily drivers from the daily hotrods. Most musclecars are overcarbureted. The recommended carburetor for my crate hemi is a 750. Thats approximately 1.76 cfm per cubic inch. That comes to 598 cfm for a 340. So I would think that a 650 or 670 would be plenty of carb for your average near stock 340. All of my daily drivers either have fuel injection or afb style carbs. No gasket below the fuel level like Holley carbs. I put a Carter AFB on my 71 cuda six years ago and have never touched it. That car runs like a bat out of hell and starts good every time I get in it, even if it's been a few months. Show me a Holley carb that hasn't leaked in a few months and I'll show you a Holley carb that hasn't had any gas in it.
Hey, It's just my 2 cents worth guys. If you love Holley's...go for it.

My personal opinion is the opposite , I tuned a 6 pack in 80 , it still runs great & hasn`t been touched since
I wouldn`t use a Carter / Eddy on my lawn mower nevermind anything I wanted to drive day to day
