So, I returned to my challenger briefly as a buddy is here staying with me for a few days. The car starts horribly and I am thinking the EFI is either putting too much fuel in or not enough. I am trying to see how to set it up in the software but to be honest I am not exactly sure what I should be adjusting. As a reminder, I am running a Holley system with a dual sync distributor.

The deal is that it cranks for a long time, then will push back on the starter. I have to try and start it quite a few times until it will finally take; I have gone through the timing and I think that is good. I really believe it is a fuel issue at this point. We did figure out that I had 2 plug wires swapped which GREATLY improved running and power (duh  :banghead:).

Thought I would provide an update; I went out last week to start the car after having let it sit for about a month. After the last post, my buddy and I had played with the tuning a bit after correcting the plug wiring issue. When we stopped working on it, the car was running well but I was very fearful that after sitting it would be back to cranking and cranking before getting it to fire.

Well, got into the car, flipped the switch (to hear the fuel pump run), then cranked it. It turned over probably 4 or so times and then attempted to fire so I came off the key. Second attempt it fired right up, idled commensurate with the tune (about 1000 when cold). I let it run for awhile but before I turned it off I did notice that it wasnt running as rich as it had previously.

short story; it works awesome!!! I am very happy with it (for now).

Unfortunately the power steering seems to have decided to quit, it dumped its fluid under the car...  :pullinghair: I will get back to it one day...

Take ps belt off and fire it off regularly.

In order to just run it occasionally or to protect the PS system?

I installed 3 oz of AT-205 about 4 months ago and still no leaks. Pump would normally drain completely dry overnight.

Thanks! I will give that a try. The box is fairly new (rebuilt by FF). I haven't looked where its leaking, could be a hose for all I know. That said I will get some ATP just to have even if I dont need it for this.

All - I returned to this thread to grab one of my pictures and noticed I never really finished the thread...

In reference to the leaking PS pump, turned out it was a bad fitting, Crash340 was visiting and recut the taper on the fitting and it sealed right up. He and I spent some time tuning the car a little more and I have to say it runs better than it ever has, more importantly it has vastly more power than it ever has, idles well and has great throttle response.

During one of the test drives during tuning, I had a car behind me and as I slowed with the brakes on, I noticed the car behind me wasn't. Eventually the car noticed I was slowing and slowed down until I turned off. When I came home I checked the car and sure enough, no brake lights.... Well after a few weeks I finally got out and investigated it and determined that when I built the car I didn't connect the brake light switch correctly. I got that fixed and BAM!! I got brake lights.

Presently the car works well, starts, idles and moves. I have it covered in my shop as I am continuing work on my Cuda. As far as I am concerned the car is done for now. I need to get the Cuda done so I can start something on else...  :money:

There is an issue with the rear end I am going to have to sort out, perhaps a wheel bearing.

Doh!

I understand. It gets especially hard with multiples.
My challenger is down to fix electric fan issues.
Running just to warm up my Mustang (68) the other day and it decided to keep blowing clouds of smoke. Suspect the valve guide seal dried out from sitting and failed. Motor is 17yrs old.
Discust has killed motivation for the Falcon...

You got that right (about the issue with multiple cars). I am getting close on this one but am thinking/wondering if I should start another. The interest is there but I am not sure if the actual motivation is. I really would like to do my 70 RR but we will see.
