I have a windage tray on my motor.  Guess that's another name for crank scraper,
or are they different?

They are definitely different....    This is a poorly fitted crank scraper, to be truly effective it wou;d be a tighter fit to the crank...

Then I assume a windage tray is a better device?

A crank scraper properly set up offers advantages above 6,000 rpm's but for 99% of street cars it's overkill... Windage trays are easy cheap horsepower..

so, considering the original discussion, a windage tray should keep more oil in the pan?

Yup.... But baffles & trap doors are also effective which is why I keep pointing toward the road race pan... It allows a low car to safely carry 7 qts of oil & assures the oil is around the pick up not pushed into an area where it does non good...

2 different animals. Unless of course a combo piece. But still 2 different purposes
