Huh you are running this beast with no fluid  :bricks1:  :22yikes:

Crap, did I destroy my trans? It was never put in gear or moved and stayed in neutral. Only started up once  :faint:

So I guess I'll pull the front cover and inspect? Then fill it with oil, run it for a minute or so and drain it and see if there are metal shavings? Really hope I didn't mangle anything. This is my first time for all of this, sucks all the things I don't know.  :banghead:

how long did you break the engine in for ?
shavings may not be the issue , one or more of the gears on the main shaft may be galled or seized , that is why the car tried to move on you , that is a massive oooopppp s
I would not pull the cover , not easy to install again in the car , add oil to the trans & see what happens , I think you will have to pull the trans as 1 or more of the gears on the mainshaft & possibly the main shaft may be damaged now

So here's the update. Thought the driveshaft was spinning free but it wasn't. Pulled the trans out last night and brought it to Jamie at passon this morning. Got there at 8am, by 930am I was out the door with the fixed trans. 1/2 gear was welded to the mainshaft. New 1/2 gear, main shaft and 2 syncros. Cost me a few hundred bucks, Jamie was honest fair and cool about the entire situation. Overall awesome guy to deal with and just conversate. Trans now shifts like butter, going in tomorrow a.m. The price of stupid didn't break the bank and I'm back in action, couldnt ask for more.

Oh and chrycho, spot on with the diagnosis

Was the 1/2 shaft done in by the startup or with the original build?  :clueless:

My fault entirely, not anything to do with how it was built. Jamie is a stand up guy, I learned my lesson

Yea, glad it all worked out. Was really cool watching Jamie diagnose the problem, pull it apart, reassemble and have me on my way in under 2 hours. And now I have a mainshaft to build a stool for my man cave! Jamie said "here's your trophy"...don't think I'd call it a trophy but yea

I have parts like that, chalk that up to learning.
I adjusted the rockers on my Norton after drinking, locknut ended up loosening and adjuster backed off then the pushrod broke the rocker arm.

New valve job and rocker later, it was running like a scalded dog.
