Very cool restomod idea
« on: July 11, 2016 - 10:36:28 PM »
I follow a page on Facebook called G3 Hemi Swap and one of the guys own there owns a shop that does restomod Mopars, and a few times now I've seen him build a 'Cuda with a Viper chassis and suspension system along with a G3 Hemi. It seems like a really cool idea and I imagine it's probably difficult and expensive, anyone here know anything more about it or what's involved?

A metric $hit ton load of fab work and/or a wheel barrow full of money.

You would need to create new sub-frame cradles to hold the Viper suspension without compromising their geometry and then graft those into the Challenger uni-body structure and that doesn't even begin to address things like track width, frame width, ride height, wheel offset, and wheel well clearance along with all the associated sheet metal changes.

It might be a neat set up for simple wow factor, but not practical for anything but unlimited, open class competition.

Well, if I ever win the lottery or get miraculously successful in life I'll hire a custom shop to do it for me 😂

There is a guy on pro-touring mopar doing this with a dart, calls the project "scud" I'm sure brad will chime in, I haven't seen the project in a while, but I know brad frequents that forums still
