    Last year I pulled into a Dealership to look at a new hemi shaker Challenger. Salesman said " Want to trade that car of yours for this ?"  I said " Sure, how much cash difference are you going to give me ? He walked away.  :D
    Others I say, "I'm not selling" and if they push it I walk away from them.

    I had a guy follow me one time and asked me how much?

    I could tell he probably worked at a car Pot Lot.

    Back when I had a home phone I get 3 phone calls after Mopar Muscle ran my car.  One guy wanted to trade and another said hey I'm calling from Alaska and we want to buy your car, how rude it was like 11 or 12 at night I had no sence of hummer and told him he'll hasn't froze over your just to fare north and hung up. I told the last guy that called he was to late I just sold it to a guy in Alaska 15k he hung up all mad... Shorty after that we shut the home phone off and went to only our cell phones.

    Now I just tell em when they ask have you seen the prices at Barret Jackson and smile big, that usually ends the talk, I try not to be rude anymore I think most people just don't know how to approach someone and start a conversation.

    Just get a brown or burnt orange E body and you will seldom if ever have this problem.  As an added benefit, you won't have trouble finding your car in the car show field full of high impact color Mopars!  :rofl:
    I'm not really kidding actually.  My FK5 Challenger convertible and my GK6 '71 V code Challenger are both constant show winners and get a lot of attention at any show or cruise either has ever been in.  And I've had them in dozens probably more like hundreds of shows and cruises.  I've got a shelf of trophies and a wall of plaques they've won.  And in 19 years maybe 3 people have asked me if the vert is for sale, never had anyone ask me if the '71 is for sale in the 5 years I've owned it.
    With my FE5 T/A on the home stretch of its restoration, it will be interesting to see if people are bugging me about selling it when it's done and I show it. If so, that is strong evidence my color theory is correct.  Costs got out of control with this project and sadly I have over 100K in it now  If anyone starts insisting on a price for this "resale red" car, I will tell them if I was to sell it, I wouldn't consider losing any money on it, and then will see how interested they still are knowing it would cost 6 figures to get me to consider letting it go?  :dunno:

    And ten plus years ago I had some guy with a big black briefcase full of cash trying to buy my vert at Spring Fling.... He offered 100K & had the stacks of cash to back it up... Not for sale thank you...  So yeah bright colors do matter...

    One of my good buddies lives a couple miles away from me and has 2 '71 Challengers. One is a red R/T clone with a built 440 backed by a Tremec, the other a GA4 340 4 speed convertible he's had since '73 and restored in the late 90s. We go to lots of cruises and shows together and of course park next to each other.  At least once a year we will be sitting there talking and someone will come up and ask him if it's for sale.
    He told me someone came up to him at a show recently where he'd drove the red hot rodded one and said he'd give him a briefcase with 75K in it and "you can even keep the briefcase". :lol:
    My vert is the last car I'd ever sell so I am happy to not be bothered by people trying to buy it.  The 71 I had to store after I brought my project home, and I have advertised it with no interest.  So with it I've gotten concerned I'm stuck with it. Though I can think of worse things than being stuck owning an all original sheet metal 440 6 pack 4 speed super track pack Challenger that runs like a scalded cat! :burnout:

    I'd think a simple "its not for sale now, but give  me your number and if I change my mind, I'll call" would deflect a lot of them.  Doesn't mean you have to call them. If it doesn't deter them, then hit them with insured value or the price of what your next desired purchase would be.

    I want a '70 Road Runner, Air Grabber with a 440 6-pak and a four speed.  Going price on those is $75k +, so that's what my Challenger is worth, despite the fact it has bondo, body rot, and needs paint. If someone whats to disagree with the value of my ride that isn't for sale, that is my logic of justification if I'm going to let it go. They can then chose to disagree with me, but if they want my car, they can cough it up or move on.

    Glad to hear I'm not alone,  I think moving forward I reply politely it's not for sale and when pressured to give a price I will just give a number at twice value. 

    Only worry is like one poster stated above is mysterious damage/scratches after someone gets their panties bunched,  I would lose my job if I got a assault charge  :angelwings:

    On the subject of paint, I have A 70 barracuda, EF8 Ivy green metallic. I have had A couple of people come up to me and say  that they thought it was an ugly color but A nice car otherwise.  I replayed they could buy the car and paint it any color they wanted. :screwy:
