Need info, Issue with Rear window track on drivers door
« on: July 12, 2016 - 04:13:33 AM »
After a car show, my driver side window would not roll all the way up.  After removing the door panel and watching what was going on, I discovered that the light blue colored plastic wedge near the top of the REAR TRACK was loose.  So when I roll the window up, that blue wedge gets jammed and prevents the window to completely close.  Its about 2 inches short of closing.
I took a long screwdriver to put that wedge back into the slot in the rear track.  But it eventually gets loose again.
My question is this:  What keeps that wedge in place?????  The attached photo shows the wedge back where it should be.

Sorry, pic is sideways.

I believe there is a small spring that suppose to hold up. spring break and that wedge drops. I'll check some used guides.

Funny you mention this as I recently swapped tracks and had to move the spring over with the blue wedge.

Oh please find me a spring..  What does that spring look like?  I have searched for some type of fastener at the bottom of my door with a magnet and nothing.  Must have fell out of the drain holes?
Thanks for the assist!

Ok, that is doable.  Thanks all for your help.
Dave, thanks for the photo.  How long is that spring in the pic?  Same dimensions as the Home Depot spring? Or
HPcuda, I know you sent that link as an example, is that the one I need to order since I don't know how long it is.

One suggestion is to check out your opposite door for exact size. Might as well replace both then.

Good suggestion, but would like to avoid taking the other door apart.

The one I listed is 1.25" long and it will be very close, you may have to change the bends on the ends but that's it.

Good suggestion, but would like to avoid taking the other door apart.

Thanks Dave!  The spring HPCuda pointed out should work just fine.  Hope I can get that in w/o taking the glass out.

Just a follow up.  I got the spring that was recommended and installed w/o having to take the window or track out. It was pretty ez.
Thanks again Mopardave and HPCuda.
