New update...had the chance to take a nice long run in the car today...150 miles or so, mostly highway, with my 16 yo daughter riding shot gun which is always awesome!
I can not believe the difference in the 70 jets vs the 68s...the car runs so much better on the highway. Pulls very strong at all rpms with no lug anywhere. AFR meter reads high 12s to mid 13s depending on rpms. Very happy with that set up. When you get into the secondary's, the AFR meter shoes dead rich, into the 10s. No way I can address that right now, as I have the non adjustable plate and no jets. Maybe a winter upgrade to the metering block with jets is in order.
The other end of the spectrum, WOT from idle I am not so happy with. The green cam seems to create a huge flat spot ( I would not call it a bog) when you go WOT from idle. The is no noticeable stop in the revs, no lean spike on the AFR, the engine revs but very slow and the AFR meter shows very rich. Once you hit about 2000 rpm, the car takes off. The reason I am tweaking the carb is to make sure I squeeze the most out of the current combo. I think I should be able to spin the tires going WOT from idle every time.
So next step is to change out the pump cam to either the red or white, which provide less fuel over all as compared to the green, that should take care of the rich condition going WOT from idle.
I am also thinking of changing the timing up a little bit. At highway speed, say 70 mph I am running about 2500 rpm. My total timing comes in around 3000 rpm. I think to total timing should be all in while I am running down the highway...but maybe I am wrong?!?!?!?
The adventure continues!
