running light issue
« on: July 19, 2016 - 06:23:35 PM »
:2thumbs:so yea recently brake lights and running lights went out i checked most of the harness, bulbs and replaced fuses that brought back the brake lights and clock running but no road lights.
is there something else am missing as am at wits end chasing it down.

edit : I found it was a faulty headlight switch swapped it out good as new

I assume you are talking about running lights /park lights not road lamps on the front bumper of a Cuda ?
So how far do you have power from the headlight switch ?  Bad ground to the body can prevent them from working but I doubt all of them would have that problem  , front lights could be the bulkhead plug but the rear lights do not go through the bulkhead .

Ya that was a mistake I ment running/park lights I checked the bulk head it has a new year one harness I figure that wasn't it I even went and unplugged and plugged it back in. I took apart the headlight switch and seen it was never redone cause the lights were working fine 2months ago
My only real prob is I have no clue were all the grounds go to the body :shurgs: hopefully this fixed it for good but thanks for helping

the body grounds are simply the metal light housings touching unpainted steel where they mount which will not work if the body has been well painted , you can add wires to help the lights ground . I would add some dielectric grease to teh bulkhead plug to prevent corrosion in there .
do you have power to the light sockets now if not start tracing power back to the light switch or work the other way from the light switch out  ?
