I have isolated two of my gremlin issues with troubleshooting steps from other posts on this forum, thanks so much for that. Both my key wont engage the starter and no backup lights lead to the NSS. Everything else tested out perfectly from end to end. I went and picked up a new one last night but have not installed it yet.
Is there a way to test functionality before I install it into the transmission? I would like to test it connected to the harness, but not in the transmission. I have read in other threads where there are multiple bad new ones or they are too long or too short etc. I just don't want to install it and still wonder if it is a bad switch or an issue inside the tranny.
From what I understand the switch is internally grounded, so is it as simple as plugging it into the harness, turning the key on and pushing in and out on the plunger to make sure the key cranks and the BU lights go on?
***** UPDATE ***** Installed and all is well.
Many thanks
