I'd raise the hood in total dark & see if there's any arching...if so time for new.

wonder if arching would give higher resistence readings? maybe not.
Maybe an ohmmeter can't detect everything.
You would think over time, due to heat, they would deteriorate.
May just do it anyway, but its a pain cutting them to length, to get exact fit!
