« on: July 25, 2016 - 08:04:55 AM »
Put on new trunk weather seal on 70 challenger from Metro yesterday and went to close trunk and it is about 3/4 inch from  latch and I'm afraid to push any harded on trunk lid. Has anybody ever had this problem ? ? Almost like the rubber is to hard. . Any ideas ? ?

I know this same problem all too well.
I did a thread on it before.

The durometer and thickness are not correct.

You need to buy the trunk weatherstrip from SoftSeal.

Common problem...not just on the E-bodies either.  This was suggested on another site and it worked for me.

Clamp pieces of wood around the trunk opening to compress the seal.  Leave it sit for a week or more.  With the seal compressed, my trunk finally closed.

I could  not get mine to close . So I bought this seal and it compresses /seals nice  and fits well,  it's not " correct " for your car if you have a show car , but it works.  :2cents:

For anyone else that wants to avoid future frustration:

Get the Soft Seal and be done with it.

Even CODY who restores cars professionally endorses the Softseal trunk weatherstrip.
