Vinyl roof washing
« on: July 30, 2016 - 01:11:33 AM »
Hello guys, what do you use to wash the vinyl roof of your car ? I know there are plenty of good products out there like Meguiar's but is it possible to get good results with just soap or non-corrosive house cleaning products ?
Any advice is welcome !

I haven't had a vinyl roof in over forty years but when I did ( 69 Road Runner ) I washed it with very mild soap solution, dried thoroughly, and treated it with a vinyl top treatment. I saw the car once, about ten years after I sold it. It was a POS at that point BUT the vinyl roof still looked brand new! I must have done something right.

does anyone use a conditioner or protectant on their vinyl top? and what do you use?

i used Mothers back to black on mine once and when it rained, it ran all over the windows and created this haze
that was impossible to get off.

I received a spray bottle of Vinylex made by Lexol at a car show about 4 years ago and have been using it on my vinyl top ever since.  It sprays on and you wipe in into the vinyl.  I use it about every 3 months. It seems to be working as the top is now 8 years old and still looks brand new.

303 has a great vinyl protectant that I use, along with an interior protectant. Stuff was invented by astronauts!
