Broken Motor Mount
« on: July 31, 2016 - 08:35:03 PM »
How hard or easy to replace motor mounts in the garage?
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

no, actually right side, though I haven't been under there yet,
but its my guess, for last month, when I start the car, getting a loud banging from
the right side, when the engine is initially rocking back and forth.
Once up and running, noise goes away, and the left side is held tight by the torque strap.
But its a stock Mopar motor mount and is 15 years old. Will report what
I find.

Car on jack stands, disconnect the headers/manifolds from exhaust, a 2x4 across the oil pan edge and raise up the engine just a bit.

I suppose getting hold of a cherry picker would make it a whole lot easier

These are pictures from when I did the drivers side replacement changing to Mancini Mag in the garage on jack stands , high jack stands , so I could fit underneath, haha.
I removed the radiator shroud bolts so the shroud would be loose and the fan would not push against it also.
2x6 under the oil pan, the Header was removed as I was replacing it with an exhaust manifold while replacing the starter at the same time , the starter replacement was the initial job. I did not do anyting to the 4 speed tranny mount.
First time I had done a motir mount replacement, went well, take pictures to mount same way with bolts.
Only problem was that I snapped the oil dipstick tube when trying to move it out of the way, its held together now with a screw clamp till the replacement from Roseville arrives this week.
